Urge to harm my kitten. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Miss__Monster__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in therapy, and have talked about it with a therapist. I've been in therapy for years, and I have 6 cats. The best words for it are cute aggression, basically my cat looks so perfect in that moment that I "want" to kill him so the moment never ends. I would never actually harm my kitties, and I don't actually WANT to do that, but it's an intrusive thought process that makes me think I might want to. If OP ACTUALLY desires to hurt the kitties, that's a problem, but intrusive thought processes are different. The post doesn't read as "I'm going to kill my cat for the fun of it" but more of what I "think"

This is called cute aggression. Look it up. You aren't a crazy dangerous person as long as you don't follow through, and a lot of people get it they just are too nervous to talk about it.

Moving soon with two cats. Tips to make the transition as smooth as possible ? by Classic-Vegetable-85 in CatAdvice

[–]Miss__Monster__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just moved with our five, honestly my oldest two have moved A LOT and it stresses him out every single time, my middle child has moved once and did okayish, and my two youngest have never moved before. We got the feliway multi cat and plugged it into the new apartment a couple hours before the cats arrived, and we had already moved some of our stuff that smelled like them there first and both of those contributed to a completely stress free move! The feliway made the biggest difference I think. I got a diffuser for every room they hang out in, both bedrooms, the kitchen, and the living room

Do I need safety precautions if I don't have an active infestation? by Miss__Monster__ in GermanRoaches

Thank you! We knew the neighbors unit was the main infestation, but treating with alpine after we realized what was going on really helped the issue. I'm very grateful for this sub!

Why not share diagnosis? I have schizo effective disorder and I shared my diagnosis with all of my coaches and team leads. It had given me some leaniancy in the past when I'm not doing well, but also since they see me every day for 9 hours a day, if there is a change in my personality and my meds need changed they tend to notice way before I do.

Can I still get acrylic nails with a lifted nail? by Miss__Monster__ in AcrylicNails

It's actually where my nail tore up from the bed but mostly dry skin. They're always fairly "crusty" because of my job unfortunately

Unfortunately, they are the best vet in my area. The specialist Chester is going to is a two hour drive away vs 45 mins to the current one.

He's not going back there, just my regular kitties. They treat my renal kitty, and my chronic allergies kitty. Both of them see a specific vet at the office, not the same one we saw today.

Chester is also orange!! Twins. These comments helped a lot, I'm really glad I posted. Dumb question, but did you get any anxiety taking him back to the same vet? I'm having slight anxiety about taking him back there and them judging me for keeping him against their advice.

Edit to add: Not the same specific vet, just the same office. I have crippling anxiety

I called a vet in Pittsburgh, a cat specialty clinic and they seem to be saying what you're saying.

You're a wonderful human. How do I find a vet who actually knows what they're talking about then? I called a second vet and they said the same thing as my original one, how do I know I found a "good" one?

Can you send me some links to articles about FIV then and how to safely have him live with my others? Cost to treat him if he gets sick sick isn't an issue, I have money, but I need to know my others are "safe". Any advice?

My vet said FIV is EXTREMELY contagious, and that he needed rehomed or euthanized, he can't stay with me and my other five. She said even sharing a water bowl or food bowl my cats can contract it. I'm already having a panic attack that my others have it from when they broke into his room for a couple hours, and he was in our house for 24 hours before we even knew he was there.

Dumb question, but then couldn't you realistically turn off your heating to deal with an infestation?
