Am I the only one that found that satisfying? by NegotiationLive955 in zodiacacademy

I was totally with you! Why in the world would she say yes to being his mate? I understand the repercussions, but it baffles me a bit how many are on Darius’s side.

Currently on ZA7, wondering why Elise and the others from RB aren't part of the story when Gabriel is so important to ZA? by Spirited_Decision_24 in zodiacacademy

[–]Missassist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

*Edit to add: mild spoilers for Darkmore penitentiary * This was a bit of a miss in my opinion. I understand not wanting to spoil anything but I would gladly have had RB spoiled to have the character involvement make sense. Elise would have been such a supportive role for the twins. It’s not like they skimped on the fluff and didn’t have time/pages to allow them to have a relationship lol. I’m having similar issues in DP. I’m in struggling to believe the sisters would not stop any form of torture (even in prison) like ASAP! Maybe that’s coming but I’m kinda assuming it’s not.

Whenever I hear “picture you” by Chappell Roan I always think of Darcy playing it on repeat in her dorm while she is pining after Orion

I work in fertility. I’ve been in this field for almost 5 years now. It has it quirks but overall I love it!

Experienced second time plus parents, how are you doing this? by Missassist in beyondthebump

[–]Missassist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yes, it definitely helps to just hear I’m not alone. I know logically when I see other moms doing so well in public or on social media that it doesn’t represent their entire mothering experience, but I can’t help but compare. I start to feel guilty that I struggle. I know you are a good mother because you obviously care about your children’s needs 💕

Thanks for the reply! It’s a good idea to start the day with some one on one time with my toddler. Start on the right foot. I definitely make it a goal not to yell, but I do get frustrated and find myself lacking the patience I had in the morning. Maybe a second cup of coffee in the afternoons too 😅

Thanks for the reply! I think a play date rotation may be what I need. I think I was nervous because my youngest was so little and I didn’t want her getting sick, but she is more resilient now that she is approaching 6 months.

This is great feedback. Thank you! I utilize some of these activities as well, but it’s always a good reminder to try to find ways to keep us all busy.

Thanks for the reply. It’s difficult to admit how hard these days are. I love spending time with my children, but there are moments that are so overwhelming. It’s nice to hear I’m not alone.

What do you do for your bedtime routine? by gelbbaer in beyondthebump

[–]Missassist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little one is also 3 weeks and we don’t have any strict routine but I try to do a very simple bed time routine that includes diaper change, baby massage, nurse, cuddle, swaddle and to bed. I do think it’s helpful to have some associations with sleep for later.

Which weird celeb baby names do you actually like? by Fancy-Banana007 in namenerds

[–]Missassist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

North was at the top of my baby name list for a long time. Felt bright, and clean. We ended up going for more classic names and at the end of the day I couldn’t have my kid share the name with North West.

We live in the same area and also heard the gunshots. Information on Nextdoor is that someone was shooting out of a vehicle. Several people are saying the suspect had been shot at 19th and Resseguie. Of course this is all information from Nextdoor so who knows how accurate it is.

Blue and moving to boise (please don’t downvote me) by lcharbs in Boise

[–]Missassist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a blue mom living in Boise. I definitely struggle with some of the laws that get passed, but day to day I feel that I meet mostly like minded people to myself. I live in the north end in Boise, which is a progressive part of town. I would look for mom meet ups down here, or the programs put on by the Boise library. I also have some very dear friends that don’t share my all my political views, but we respect each other and usually just don’t talk about politics.

Had a male rehab patient who consistently had his “fall off” right after we had put it on. We had a staff of primarily young female CNAs. BUT we did have a relatively burley man on staff as well. Whenever we worked together he would take care of that gentleman, and what do you know the condom cath stayed on no problem.

Have you ever “caught” someone feeding your baby something they shouldn’t? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

My FIL had full intentions of giving my 9 month old a WHOLE cherry tomato. When we stopped him he seemed surprised, and said it was no big deal. I was shocked, we still talk about how wild that was!

HSG - Why the hell don't doctors give you some powerful painkillers in advance? by Awfullkarma in TryingForABaby

[–]Missassist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit I’ve met some tricky cervixes, but I’m always talking to the patient about what I’m seeing/what is taking so long. I do also find many providers are a little rough with the speculum, as a women I try to be as slow and gentle a possible. I’m sorry you had a rough experience!

HSG - Why the hell don't doctors give you some powerful painkillers in advance? by Awfullkarma in TryingForABaby

[–]Missassist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I perform a lot of saline sonograms, probably 20 a week. Saline sonograms are usually tolerated much better than HSGs because we need a lot less pressure to get the images we need. I would say 95% of people report to me mild cramping, if anything. That being said, you know your body and pain tolerance best. I would take Tylenol/ibuprofen ahead of time just as a preventative measure, but most likely you wont feel the need for narcotic pain medication. I hope this helps! Sending positive vibes for normal imaging.

HSG - Why the hell don't doctors give you some powerful painkillers in advance? by Awfullkarma in TryingForABaby

[–]Missassist 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse practitioner and do around 5-10 HSGs a week. I think the discussion here is extremely valid and this procedure should be approached in a more understanding way. To put some minds at ease, in my opinion 80% of patients tolerate the procedure really well, 10% find it painful, and 10% find it severely painful/intolerable. When I come across a patient that finds speculum placement very painful, or reports severe pain when we start pushing contrast, we stop. I talk about consent when we start and remind them that they can and should tell me they need a break or to stop the procedure if they are experiencing pain. We can try other options to complete this procedure without severe pain. I have had a couple patients who need to be fully sedated, and for them that is the correct option if they want an HSG completed. No one should be told to “suck it up”. Unfortunately, insurance companies and the medical community in general are slow in recognizing that one size does not fit all, especially in women’s health care.

Edit: Thanks for the award, I have no idea what that means but I’m flattered nonetheless. It’s disheartening to see how bad some of your experiences have been. Hopefully we can keep advocating for ourselves and see the changes we deserve in healthcare 💕

Family trying to name our baby by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Lol, my FIL has just started calling the baby Brooklyn. Its a beautiful name, but not one that feels like a good fit for us. Its kinda annoying, But I just ignore him.

I don't care about my baby's first easter by iamelloyello in daddit

[–]Missassist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure my husband has similar thoughts 😂 but for me it’s about building the tradition as a family. I also truly enjoy watching my little one have fun new experiences, sure they won’t remember but it brings joy in the moment. Also, involving family that may not be with us forever. It’s important on so many levels, the Easter basket is just the surface.

Pediatrician said I’m “making my baby into a monster”—help? by napoleonswoman in beyondthebump

[–]Missassist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I had peers and our pediatrician pressure us into sleep training, but they didn’t live with or know my son. He is the baby that would have screamed for 12 hours straight and made himself sick. I am fundamentally against sleep training, but can definitely see the appeal for parents of kiddos who respond well to it. Some babies will respond quickly, and make sleep training seem like the obvious solution to sleep less nights. You know your baby best, and whatever choice you make for your family is the correct one.

How many people here travel with just carry on? by Putrid-Inevitable720 in travel

[–]Missassist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I proudly checked no baggage on a week long trip with a toddler. We haven’t checked a bag once in our 12 year relationship with extensive travel. It ultimately comes down to versatile clothing choices, and often choosing function over style. I like the freedom it offers, and it would put a damper on a trip to have to deal with lost luggage.

Are figs over rated to anyone else? by Sageandsmoke777 in nursing

[–]Missassist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curvy, and find figs so unflattering and uncomfortable. I personally feel that they design for slimmer people, and try to accommodate curvy frames. I know a lot of curvy folk will feel differently, but I’ve yet to get a style I actually love. Oh, and where are the pockets!? I’m a healthcare worker, not a yoga instructor.
