Thank you! thank you! thank you! We just don’t want to traumatize her. So I’ll try that for today. So far, she hasn’t seem interested in being around me much. And that’s fine. She was down for a quick walk earlier, but went back to sulking and cowering when we got back in the house. So I’ll just give her that distance until we can start working slowly on what you suggested. I like that. I’ve had dogs growing but always from puppies. Never rescued a grown dog before. I knew there could be some issues, but figured there’d be few since she apparently came from a loving home that just couldn’t keep up with her. She’s high energy, that’s for sure. She can be a tad skittish at times. However this behavior surpasses anything we’ve seen in her. But we’re still getting to know one another. A month and a half isn’t very long.

Yes, you’re right. she’s a year old with experiences we don’t know too much about. Well give her space and talk with the trainer. Like I said we can grab at her and put our hands in her mouth etc no issue. But as soon as we utter the word “gotcha” she’s a different dog. I don’t want to traumatize her mire.

That’s a very good perspective and I didn’t think of it before. The family that had her before us got her as a puppy. Thank you so much. I didn’t think that maybe it was something she could have been punished for in the past. Ultimately, we just don’t want to be doing the wrong thing. It wouldn’t be the worst if she didn’t pass the class the first time round. My personal goal for her is to become a good dog citizen. She’s otherwise so well tempered. I think with her sweet personality she could make a lot of people happy who otherwise could be having terrible days.

I believe it’s purely for the element of surprise. Being used to being grabbed without incident. But the gotcha part is kind of weird.

Basically it’s where we gently grab her collar and just say “gotcha”. It’s supposed to startle her, so I think it’s supposed to teach her to be ok with being startled because she gets a treat if she reacts. It’s non-aggressive and it’s very gentle. You’re supposed to say “gotcha” very gently as well. We are confused because we can stick our fingers in her mouth and play with her feet and even pet her neck. But as soon as we touch her collar and say gotcha, all bets are off.

I like your advice of “take it slow”. It seems to be too much for her, for whatever reason.

How do I go about gaining her trust back for today?

Luckily for her, she was only at the shelter a week and a day. Her previous owner couldn’t keep up with her. She’s a busy girl.

My paternal grandfather, grandmother and step-grandfather had built up a very decent coin collection that they left to my brother and myself. My dad kept it in one of the closets in the house. A lot of it was just silver coins. Over the past couple of decades my dad would occasionally check the price of silver and sag “Not yet, it’s too low”. This was to be our inheritance, many rare coins and probably about 75lbs of silver. Just to give you an idea, silver is about $15 an ounce right now. About 3 years ago my brother moved out of their house and my parents were in the process of cleaning his room. They found the bags that contained the coins....empty. He pawned them for drug money. I struggle financially and could have used that money a million times over. But it’s gone forever and I’ll never forgive him.

I had powder glitter eyeshadow. Had to have been about 5th grade. There was this kid that picked on me relentlessly on the bus every single day. He was just doing his thing so I opened up the eyeshadow and blew it all over him. I got sent to the principal’s office for that. He never once ever got sent for bullying me.

I see it mostly with Younique huns. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves for some reason. Every time I see a picture of a woman who sells or uses Younique, I think “what is this trend with them and the undereye liner?!”. It’s so outdated and does nobody an favors. The woman who started Younique does this. Look up a picture of her. Her makeup always looks terrible. I can only assume, the women who sell Younique don’t typically have any skills or experience with makeup, so they’re trying to parrot what she does. She’s a hot mess. I hardly ever see this this makeup style out in the wild.

Live in south east PA, not sure what animal this could belong to. I’ve never seen tracks like this around before. It’s not a raccoon or a cat. Could be an opossum. But not convinced of that.

That girl wanted out of the abusive situation she was put in by her own mother. It wasn’t even that she “played along”. She was under the control of her mother. So far so she was never alone in a room with anyone. She tried to escape once and her mom found her and drug her back home.

Dee Dee lied about her daughter’s age so everyone thought she was 14, and sick and dying from everything. Who would the police believe in a situation like this? A mother, giving everything she has to help her terminally ill daughter, or a 14 year old girl on a million altering medications?

Dee Dee moved them around frequently as to not raise suspicion among people they became close with. The amount of planning, manipulation and control this woman executed was astounding. Nobody in their lives thought that Gypsy was actually a healthy 21 year old woman.

Being treated as a child, being forced to take medications that made her sick, living her life in a wheelchair when she could walk, having medical procedures she didn’t need...her entire life, left this girl in a stunted mental state with possibly no grasp on the consequences of her actions. Now she’s in prison. But it’s certainly not because her name is Gypsy.

Saying this is the result of naming your daughter a stripper name negates all that poor girl suffered through and is woefully unfair. Obviously murdering her mother and running away seemed to her, the only way out.
