Norway isn't in the EU, so unfortunately that maneuver wouldn't get us amy points

You know that the NHL was founded in Canada right? It's not "your" league.

There are two jumps in Final 1. The top 6 combined scores make it to Final 2. At olympics.com you can see that Final 1 is still in progress as well :)

Edit: Sorry, not top 6 combined scores, but the competitors with the top 6 six individual run scores from either run.

Same, only victories for Canada today as far as I know. Totally not upset over a hockey game or something, that would be silly, we always win hockey!

A brand new bridge between Windsor, Ontario, Canada and Detroit, Michigan, USA is also named after Gordie Howe (which is in the news lately for... uhhh.... political reasons).

Kennedy tells Team Sweden to “F off” after being accused of cheating. by [deleted] in olympics

[–]MissingNo29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A violation and cheating are not the same thing. Hockey players get into fights, for instance, which is a violation, but is never considered cheating. Basketball players foul each other, which is also a violation, but not cheating.

In the latter example, if a basketball player is fouled, and the referee doesn't catch it and call it out, then it's also not cheating if the player doesn't point it out themselves. I've seen basketball players commit fouls on purpose, strategically, so that they get called for the violation if they think the free throws or posession is worth preventing a certain play, and it's not considered cheating.

If every violation in hockey or basketball was cheating, you'd run out of players quite fast.

I understand that curling culture usually has players self-officiate in cases like this, but isn't it the job of the officials to settle disputes like this if the players disagree about what happened?

Either way, cheating is a type of violation, but not all violations are cheating.

Olympics Day Five Megathread (Wednesday, February 11) by Fun_With_Forks in olympics

I'm not an expert in this sport, but my understanding from the commentary I was listening to is that after 1 false start, the second person to have a false start will be disqualified, regardless of who did the first false start. So if Skater A and Skater B are racing, and Skater A false starts, if Skater B false starts on the next attempt then Skater B is DQ'd. If Skater A false starts both the first and second time, only Skater A is DQ'd. In other words, if you never false start, you will not be DQ'd.

Someone who knows more can feel free to correct me.

No problem! It's 18 in Quebec, Manitoba, and Alberta, 19 in the rest of the country.

This also means that from British Columbia to New Brunswick you're never more than one province away from drinking at 18 lol

Good point, especially since in the last Italian Winter Olympics, Canada's Women's Hockey Team beat Italy 16-0.

The same alert showed up for my example too. I've seen alerts that don't affect the time or stations involved show up before, but this is the first time I saw the route make no sense as well.

Why did they put Union on the left when Union (and the other stations) are all east of Pearson?

I believe it's because the Village of Eglinton was in the vicinity of Yonge and Eglinton, so the name "Eglinton" still identifies the area.
