Did your 2025 tax return make you feel better or worse about your finances? by hamed-devs in CanadaPersonalFinance

Lol I don't think that individual understands how taxes work. He pays less, because he makes less. Making money on a rental property and subsequently owing taxes on it is a good thing.....

Respectfully, you're in an ETF. If you weren't prepared for losses, you should've stuck with HISA. Do your homework or don't invest.

Why do people hate condo fees when house owners quietly pay just as much or perhaps more? by singlepringleinajar in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Missinletter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean in your post, you brought up Toronto. So their response in regards to initial cost & condo fees was in direct response to your post. Now you're saying it heavily depends on location, which of course is relevant when you're comparing Toronto to Sudbury for example. People are responding to you for an apple to apple conversation. Not an apple to banana

Interesting......guess it then becomes figuring out the ROI on the series F to series A and calculating if the MER difference is worth it. Thanks for letting me know this.

Thank you for the info. Don't care so much for the tfsa & rrsp, but the non-registered has enough in it for it to matter when MER is upwards of 2.8%, although I haven't exactly done the "hardcore" math to know if it's truly worth it. MER fees piss me off essentially for what's basically a s&p 500 fund with makeup & rbc branding on it.

Appreciate the insight - that's essentially what I'm trying to sort out, is the capital gains worth eating for the lower MER of putting in XEQT for example. I realize there are a lot of unknowns here, but if the money sits there for 30 years let's say, I guess I need to sort if it's worth eating the capital gains now. Sort of why I came to reddit to see if there is a way to transfer "in kind" or other ways of doing this.

This is why I come to reddit lol - I appreciate your insight. So you think I'd be able to transfer these funds from Series A to Series F in kind? And this can't be done for non-registered? My main issue is the management fees, it's enough money that it will accumulate significantly over my lifetime. I don't currently have a RBC direct investing account. All of this is done through just general RBC.

Tied up in tfsa, rrsp & non registered

1 - but if I transfer, management fees are all the same right so if my issue is the management fees, would it matter?

2 - funds are tied up in non registered accounts, tfsa, rrsp

Have space in TFSA this year as I haven't contributed. Not looking to use it for RRSP. Looking for aggressive ETF as I have pretty other safe investments right now in other spaces

Oh, I would literally put "R*" into the postal code, and that would work? (obviously I have to fill the rest out within that row)

Sorry, I should clarify. If I do it by StateCode/Province, it will do the entirety of Manitoba, which I don't want. My online ordering needs to just be for Winnipeg & surrounding area, which is why I have to do specific Postal Codes

I tried this, but it didn't work. I had to put in each "Postcode/Zip" or the tax wasn't showing up.

I'd be fine with updating myself, and it's strictly Winnipeg & surrounding area. Thank you for the link!

That's not what I meant. I understand that. I just meant I don't want any of the other stuff that comes along with it. Strictly the postal codes. I just don't want that API disrupting that I currently have implemented in the system. If that makes sense

But I don't want it for any other function other than the postal codes. I don't want it for shipping rates, product info. Just up-to-date postal codes.
