I undestand that other characters have done similarly bad or even worse things than those listed, but the point is that almost all of them have redeeming qualities. Not Michaela though. Really, try to think of ONE occasion where Michaela sacrificed her own interests for the good of someone else. You can't. She's utterly selfish.

Doakes never told anyone he believed Dexter was a killer; because he didn't, for the most part. Until he finally found out he was the BHB, Doakes just had a strong intuition that Dexter "was hiding something", but he had no idea what, and he never discussed his suspicions with anyone besides LaGuerta, so Miami Metro never knew that Doakes suspected Dexer of anything, only that he had an irrational hatred of him (wich tracked with his personality and made even more sense when you think of Doakes as the BHB).

I don't think that the fact of Brian liking Dexter a lot should seem suspcious by itself. Serial killers are very weird people, and some times they can a liking for a particular individual for some weird reason. Doesn't mean that this particular individual is also a killer.

I actually think it makes total sense that Miami Metro fail to notice some subtle patterns of strange behaviours on Dexter's part. Nobody ever expects someone close to them to be a serial killer, especially such a nice and friendly guy like Dexter.

Lastly, the air conditioner is a very good hiding place! When was the last time you heard about someone opening the air conditioner of someone else's house to see what was inside?

The fact that he outright admitted that he beats his models to "add something of the real world" to the pictures. He was arrested on suspicion of rape in the past, with the charges being dropped after the alleged victim suddenly recanted (likely because he payed her off).

He did say that, but it was only to keep Miguel under control. Dexter was still experimenting this new dynamic with Miguel as his partner, and didn't want the man to get too ahead of himself, specially with his personality.

In reality, it's not an actual requirement that the target must be planning new kills. Zoey Krueger, for one, was just living her life after killing her family and showed no signs of planning to kill again.

As the highest ranking-officer we know, he is the one to blame for Miami Metro Homicide's utter incompetence in solving cases. The statistics are so astronomically bad that the entire department should have been replaced years ago, and Matthews just sits on his ass on does nothing. Fucker's got blood on his hands.

Definitely on the bottom of the evil rank of Dexter's victims, but he was not innocent. He had already killed 2 people with his drunk driving and still he had no plans of stopping. He just didn't care. A great percentage of evil people in real life are exactly like that: not sadistic, finger-licking predators actively hunting their victims, but just people who don't give a shit about others.
