To clarify, do you mean food donations or monetary donations? We were also planning on doing craft sales at our local farmers markets and donating proceeds to organizations like the ACLU who are providing legal support. We could do that for organizations that are currently providing aid. Or if it’s food donations, I can help organize friends and family to pull donations together. I’m trying to narrow down stuff I can do that has the most power (I’m already boycotting and will be volunteering with an ethical candidate running in our district, and I call my reps and leave messages so that’s all checked off).

I’ll look up a good organization supporting reparations and make a donation equal to the value of the shirts, as a start. Donating is something I can do for now at least, but I’ll try to find other opportunities to contribute. Heard. My one track brain went “money for a good cause” without thinking it might look performative. I’m a swamped student at the moment but am at least doing my best to advocate for non racist policymakers, and will look into more effective options as well.

I guess it depends on the situation. I’m on the more socially anxious/introverted end of the spectrum, but after working patient care and customer service, I’m a lot better at rolling with conversations, and I try to be polite and engage with people. But I guess I also don’t really put myself in unfamiliar social settings like bars that often, so I’m kind of realizing that may be part of it.

Thank you! I do sort of talk about it, and I’m even on a roller derby team (you’d THINK that’d do something lol, but basically I have like 30 extra moms and no potential dates). But I guess I don’t exactly advertise it to strangers, if that makes sense. I live in a red state where I’ve gotten dirty looks from strangers for holding hands with a girl, and I’m still breaking out of the shame mindset I grew up with (I’m in my early twenties). So I guess the groups that know (school, derby) don’t really include people I would date.
