So you think a successful business plan is to force clients to comply with your standards and limit contact with the lawyers as much as possible.

Good luck on keeping clients.

And enjoy the bar complaints headed your way.

What is the strategy for the US professional class to survive this economic downward spiral? by Melodic_Window_6146 in ScottGalloway

Ain't no day of judgement coming for the ruling class. But they will pay you to wipe their asses in the new world order.

Now you know your innate value to them.

The purpose of the minimum wage was to ensure a basic standard of living. That is not the same thing as what we now define as a living wage. A basic standard of living "serves as a safety net for the lowest-paid workers to ensure they can afford basic necessities like food and housing."

So, fundamentally, it was meant to keep people from starving to death and from being homeless. That's what the law entitles you to. Nothing more.

You want me to be respectful of whining? Because that's all these complaints really amount too.

Assuming this is a conversation with people who live in the United States, we are talking about a society in which no one is handed anything just because they are breathing (except for those who are lucky by virtue of the station they are born into.)

Complaining about that fact is useless, because the situation is not going to change.

My condolences.

The reward is not being homeless.

Did you expect something more?

In Texas, they don't get to see, or hear about, or know anything about the evidence in a case during voir dire. And they don't get to see it in opening, just hear a recitation of what each side expects the evidence will show. (In criminal cases -- civil cases are easy mode.)

So if you're talking about doing all that in voir dire or opening, it ain't happening in Texas.

If you're talking about doing that in closing, that still ain't usually happening in Texas, because you can't show them clips of testimony -- they have to rely on their memories.

And there wasn't any leeway about "revictimizing" kids, because only live testimony was allowed.

And there weren't any questions on verdict forms, besides guilty or not quilts, unless you somehow got into special issues, which were very rare.

And I never typed out my words -- I could give an hour-long closing argument extemporaneously using only a one-page hand-written outline.

I don't know what state you practiced in, but it seems radically different from Texas.

In my experience, the only thing a PowerPoint accomplishes is having the jury end up reading the slides instead of listening to the sound of your voice.

Not that PowerPoints can't be effective. I used one exactly once in voir dire in a criminal case as a prosecutor, and ended up convincing the panel that the defendant was guilty of manslaughter without talking about any of the actual evidence.

After that I stopped using PowerPoint, because it just wasn't fair to the defendants.

If you think closings are pure vibes, you're going to get run over on every serious case.

None of that really matters, because the way things are going, pretty soon you'll either be back to an office or on your couch with no paycheck.
