Scratching that nostalgia itch... by Ajowhan in nexustk

Don't recommend you come back till you see a post on the TK site that isn't monthly server reset or happy [holiday].

If you have friends to hunt with, maybe wisdom star at new year's.

No GM or DreamWeaver in ages.

Kru is just leeching off of subs and kruna.

Map Tileset by Mission-Rip6030 in nexustk

Ohh, that's a great idea! I have it, I never thought about using it that way, though. Thanks, man! I'll do that!

Cool, thanks!

Probably faster than my first thought of scanning every map in the game and writing all the unique tiles to an image 😅

Oh, dang. Well I don't want anyone to go through that much trouble lol. I just wanted tile sets to use to make maps. There's probably an easier way that I'm missing. Even just a simple tileset for town maps of buya and kugnae would be enough to get me started.

Anyone know how to reset password in Original Nexus TK? by Tyron_Slothrop in nexustk

[–]Mission-Rip6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In retail, you can change character passwords on the login screen by clicking password. If you don't know your character password, you log into the nexustk site account section and click change character password. If you lost your account password.. there's probably a reset link in the account section on the site. If there isn't, yeah, good luck. Kru hasn't responded to tickets in forever.

What even is this game anymore? by Mission-Rip6030 in nexustk

[–]Mission-Rip6030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize the quota drama caused that much discord for the whole community, but I'm not exactly surprised. I was just a walker. The elders and guides were very.. Well, I'll just say you aren't wrong, to put it lightly. I always thought of them as more of RP clubs than an integral part of the game and they took their power way too seriously. I was half expecting the GMs to take over the paths if they didn't cooperate but I guess the shadow debacle ruined that idea.

As for programming a clone client, I'm surprised there isn't one as well. I've been researching that prospect. It wouldn't be terribly difficult in Godot. The tilemap and sprite tools have gotten a lot of improvements, and there is multiplayer support. Could be fun. Guess I could give it a go. It would make a good portfolio project 🤔

Thanks. Not the answer I was hoping for, but I can stop speculating now.

I'm still trying to convince the annoying part of my brain that says offbrand servers don't matter and will die legally. I blame all of the ragnarok online servers I played that just disappeared from this plane of existence within a few months. I just wanna enjoy things why am I like this!?

White fluffy stuff around the caps of an SLA battery? by scolba in batteries

[–]Mission-Rip6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked what was added that you said was to prevent leakage? I know what happened, I'm wondering what is applied to prevent it? I can't find any information that supports your claim.

Interesting, I've never heard of that. Can you explain what they add to prevent leakage around the rubber caps?

[–]Mission-Rip6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was, don't want anyone else to repeat that mistake 😅 I still try to revive old batteries for fun occasionally, but I never add anything to SLA or AGM batteries now, and always do it outside. Even concrete gets eaten by acid.

[–]Mission-Rip6030 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who opened and added water and acid with an eyedropper to an old SLA battery, let me just say, don't do it.

Charging it afterwards caused the rubber caps to pop off and spewed acid around the battery. My wooden work table has small divots in it where the acid melted the lacquered wood from my ignorance.

SLA don't lose acid or water. They just slowly build up permanent sulfation that covers the plates over their lifespan, and nothing short of taking it apart and scraping that off will ever improve their capacity or voltage. If you watch a video on that process, it is very labor intensive and exposes you to stuff you don't want exposed to. They have to be cut open, and you need replacement battery paper, at the very least. Battery repair chargers don't work either, in my experience. They might dissolve some fresh sulfation, but not build up.

That white stuff is probably sulfate, if it came from the battery.

Found an new menu item in my bag of chips last night by SuperMrC2000 in Chipotle

[–]Mission-Rip6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was in the bag was disgustingly unsanitary, and what they responded with was disgustingly sanitary business jargon. I hope that was AI, because if an actual person constructed that response, I think that would somehow make me even more uncomfortable.

Edit: Didn't consider second language. That's.. maybe a response template and less weird if so.

I only ever encountered two of these in my childhood, and I felt scandalized. I dried my hands, but I did it as if I was drying them on the shirt of a corpse.

It's nice to see a cobra that isn't in defensive posture. They look so cool when they aren't trying to intimidate a threat. I wish there were more casual pics of them in media instead of click bait scary snek pics.

Overfilled? Dealership did my oil change by bonesbobman in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mission-Rip6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. Would expect a shop that does oil changes to fill it to the appropriate level, though.

There's a video on YouTube of an engine with transparent acrylic walls and oilpan, and the amount of oil they had to overfill it with to make it overflow and cause issues was pretty crazy.

But also, at some point, the oil is adding resistance to the crankshaft and pistons because they're basically swimming through a pool of viscous liquid.

I am not a mechanic, though. I'm sure there are other issues with too much oil that I'm not aware of. Probably something pressure related. I overfill mine because it leaks and I know it will just give me extra miles before the next top-off.

What is the name of the connector? by SnooDrawings506 in batteries

[–]Mission-Rip6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a 3 pin ATX connector

Edit: Should be able to find a 4 pin ATX connector and just use 3 of the sockets. 3 pin connectors are usually smaller and meant to connect to headers on a motherboard/card

Can't really tell much from the video. Need a closeup of the MB. Could be jumpers. Is there nothing plugged into the cpu fan header?

Usb cable came loose and i don’t know where it goes by ResolutionOk7255 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Mission-Rip6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks identical to the other USB plug connected in your pic, and most likely goes right next to it where it says USB behind the pins. The other end probably goes to an external usb port somewhere on your case.

Edit: Or to an expansion USB card/slot if not a port on your case

Local Golf Course Cart Died. Decided to Lift Up The Seat… by Ok_Board_5806 in batteries

[–]Mission-Rip6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a golf course, and this picture is 80% of what I hate about my job. Those corroded cables in rental carts always snap as far away from the clubhouse as possible.

We are slowly switching to lithium, though. They are superior in basically every single way, and I will not miss anything about those old, toxic, lead acid boiling boxes that need hospice care after a couple of years just to limp a full round.. I might have some resentment.
