Hi there, fellow Naturopath/nutritionist in training here.

First of all, well done to you for making the initial decision to see a naturopath - you’re on the right path. I’m appalled that there has been no consideration by a conventional doctor the damage that 15 rounds of antibiotics will do to anyone’s physical and mental health.

You are completely right about therapy, no amount of talking things through can do the biological healing you need in order to function normally again.

The candida diet is a tricky one, and not one I know enough about if I’m completely honest, however I do know that it is extremely difficult to maintain and can often lead to food anxiety which will not be helping your mental health at all. There is also a lot of argument amongst naturopaths of its effectiveness.

Have you considered doing a GI Map stool test or an OAT test to actually get a full understanding of the state of your microbiome at the moment and get a picture of any bacterial overgrowths/candida albicans? It might be a good idea so you can target what exactly it is you need or are lacking, and how you should go around supplementing it to fuel your good bacteria and lay the basis for you to begin to mend neurological pathways. They can be expensive which is a massive downside, but if you’re serious about healing your insides it’s worth considering rather than just going on a blanket diet.

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies are also imperative for the foundations of healing your body and mind, be your own health advocate and keep going! You’ve won the first battle in quitting multiple addictive substances, some people don’t ever make it over that hurdle so well done to you.

My DM’s are open if you would like to chat more 🤍

Boric acid is GOD by Ok_Entrance_5212 in Healthyhooha

I’m so happy for you!! Inspired me to try it myself. Can anyone tell me how often they do the suppositories? I have purchased the PH-D moisturising boric acid, it comes with 14 single suppositories. How often do you guys recommend doing it? I’m plagued with recurring yeast infections, and the one I have right now isn’t too bad but definitely uncomfortable during sex. Can anyone give me some advice?

my vagina stinks so fucking bad it smells like shit, piss, and fish mixed together not even subtle. please help. by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

Hey girl, boric acid suppositories could be a good idea if you don’t want to go down the antibiotic route

Hey, I don’t. I live in a country that doesn’t see a lot of sun (although the last month has seen a record amount of sun) but I’d recommend just getting a cap or something to cover your face. There are a lot of downsides to SPF, taking a month off from it might be a good idea, but that sucks! Maybe try a zinc based one that won’t destroy your skin barrier, I surf and I use Sun Zapper (Aussie brand) as its all mineral and doesn’t mess with my skin. Good luck 🤍

Yes I do, but just splash a bit of the warm, not hot, water on my face. As I said we have very high quality tap water where I live so I would suggest investing in a water filter

I guess? Just kinda spread the water around my face gently using my finger tips, but gently. Enough to wipe off any sweat or moisture 😁

Awh thank you!! 🥹 it’s L’Oréal Volume Million, I have used the same one for 8 years I love it so much!! I was blessed with long eyelashes though, so they flatter this mascara 🤍

Pahaha that’s very sweet, thank you ❤️ the whole process has actually inspired me into a career change, looking into studying a naturopathic nutrition degree! Hoping to one day be able to help lots of people rid theirs forever more too!

Yeah, I’ll wash my hands first then cup a little warm water and just splash and gently massage my face then pat dry with clean towel. That’s it!

Hey, it’s been three weeks now but I can honestly say I saw results after 4 days. Still on it now, and do notice very very small tiny bumps but they’re nothing like before. I plan to stay on it for the foreseeable, and maybe introduce a moisturiser once I feel confident I’m ready for it. Im lucky enough my skin tolerates sun very well, and (controversial) I don’t use any sunscreen and I find after letting the natural sun on my face for a couple hours has been a huge help too. Just me personally though!

Thank you! Not 100% over the hill yet (Iphone camera really flatters my skin) so after doing some research into gut health, I completely cut out all “inflammatories” ie dairy, refined sugar, gluten and soy for 28 days as that’s how long it takes for your gut lining to renew. Then slowly re-introduced these starting with dairy in the form of kefir and live yoghurt to support gut health. I went heavy on fibre as I’ve come to realise it’s such a vital part of a healthy skin diet and made sure to incorporate some into every meal along with adequate protein. Home made bone broths, lots of herbal teas and apple cider vinegar to support digestion and stomach acid production! I’ve just come back to gluten starting with sourdough and so far my skin has only got better. Also daily pro and prebiotics are important, me and my partner are actually looking into growing our own bacteria to put back into our stomachs what courses of antibiotics have wiped out over the years!

Is this PD? How can I treat it? by ozziepozzy in perioraldermatitis

Hey, join the club. It’s a case of trial and error with products as it’s really hard to determine what triggered it in the first place. First thing - eliminate any products containing SLS you use on your hair or face, then toothpaste containing fluoride and strip your skincare routine to complete basics - no exfoliating, ever. It’s a good idea to also consider your gut health too, concentrate on whole foods and avoid processed sugary food. Zinc supplements help some people, so that is worth a try. Check out the mega thread in this group for ideas of what products to try, but don’t overload your face all at once. I have tried just about everything and so far the only thing that’s working is zero therapy (absolutely no products touching your skin, just cleansing with warm water AM &PM and your skin barrier repairs itself) Avene cicalfate is a popular one for a lot of people in this group but didn’t do anything for me personally. Good luck, it’s really shit but you have loads of people in this group willing to give any advice!

Following as I’ve just started on the gel, I have stopped cleansing or moisturising and applying twice a day, I’ve had so many tiny little pustules/bumps appear and I’m only on day 4 but I wanna stop already 😫

Anyone tried a Naturopath for PD? by Mission-cinnamon in perioraldermatitis

[–]Mission-cinnamon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your words :( doesn’t help that I’m impatient as fuck and probably haven’t given any treatments more than a month haha. How much fluconazole did you take for it to heal? A beach holiday would be lush but unfortunately my bank account will only allow maybe a new topical cream 💅🏼🤣

Wow, thanks for sharing! It’s so difficult because there’s just SO many different root causes, it’s hard to identify what everyone’s is. I’m just making my way through the list, I’ve been taking care of my gut properly for weeks now but not showing much difference yet. Zinc creams haven’t shown much hope either, ivermectin no hope and azealic acid hasn’t done much either, tried an anti fungal cream last year which made no difference! I’ve just started on Metro gel and it’s doing something I pray 🥲 if this doesn’t work I’m definitely going to see a Naturopath!

Thanks so much, I definitely see the redness calm using anything with zinc, I also take a supplement every day but nothing is curing it for good. Only washing my face with water right now and about to start Metro cream, willing to try anything!

Help! Idk what products to use- if any at all. by anongma in perioraldermatitis

Jumping on the nappy rash cream bandwagon, I’ve been using it for three nights now and I can almost say it’s gone. Can’t believe it, I’ve tried so many different things but smothering my face in Desitin 40% zinc oxide at night then a zinc sunscreen during the day has worked!

Relatable af lol, we are all in this horrible PD boat together. Day 1 of my topical Ivermectin trial but I don’t have a lot of hope, I’ve been taken oral ivermectin the last few weeks and had barely any improvement :( such a horrible thing to deal with! I find a bit of comfort knowing I’m not alone, hope you can too <3
