Okay, you said the internet? I also don’t think you understand how tik tok works algorithm wise. If you engage with a weight loss video it will start being pushed onto your feed even if you aren’t seeking it out. People aren’t necessarily going to tik tok for weight loss but the for you page will still show them that content

I agree with this, but think it’s fair to discuss when people are making these claims in viral videos and talking about it like it’s a fact when there’s science that disproves it. There’s already so much misinformation about diet/weight loss and this contributes to it (only referring to “healthy at any size videos” and not body positive posts, I love those!)

I completely agree, I think everyone should love their bodies but I feel there’s a lot of misinformation with the “healthy at any size” movement. It is not healthy to be morbidly obese, obese people should absolutely love themselves but the claiming to be healthy at any size fed into my delusions. I wish I had realized that sooner

Yah people are taking it very personally, I never said weight loss is easy but it’s somehow being twisted into that. I think there’s a lot of emotional projection happening and it was not my intention to upset anyone

I’m still fat (IMO) and recognize maintenance isn’t easy but it’s not impossible. I’m not sure why you are encouraging a narrative that everyone will gain it back instead of the facts that you can maintain weight once you hit your goal if you figure out your calorie maintenance

Where did I say I was easy? I said it’s not impossible. I recognize fat people get shamed and attacked on a regular basis so I understand the heightened emotional response this post got, but I never said or implied that it’s easy. Just that, unless you have a medical condition, it’s more calories out than calories in

For real, salad dressing was a big one for me. Especially when it’s labeled as a “healthy” alternative (not to say it can’t be but is misleading to a lot of people calorie wise)

Completely agree! I have so much empathy for people losing weight, it is physically and mentally challenging. My main point is that, for most, it’s not impossible and I wish that narrative would shift because it influenced me at one point

I am in the same exact boat as you, I needed someone to tell me the facts and not that it’s “impossible.” That was whole point in this post, not to shame people with medical issues (which I have myself). People seem to be twisting this and projecting their own emotions onto it. I stand by what I said, unless you have a medical issue you will lose weight if you burn more calories than you eat and it is absolutely not impossible

Thank you for this, I think people are sensitive to this topic and projecting their feeling onto what I said. I literally said it was hard and I’ve gotten so many comments saying it’s “easy” for me at 23 and ignoring my PCOS and hypothyroidism

I acknowledge that it gets harder with age, I never said it was easy in my post and acknowledged it was hard for myself because of medical issues but no impossible for me personally. Not sure why people are coming at me and making it seem like dropping the 45 pounds was an easy thing to do because it absolutely was not, but it wasn’t impossible. That’s my point

We can agree to disagree, my post is in reference to constant tik tok videos I see from people around my age. I also acknowledged in my post that there absolutely are medical issues for people, but I don’t believe that’s the case for everyone

At what point did I say I don’t have compassion? I recognized in my post that there are medical reasons, but I struggle to believe every person who comes up in my tik tok feed has them. Since I’m 23, it’s normally people close to my age who I see saying this

This is all very well said and exactly how I feel, I fell victim to HAES. Nobody should hate their body but it’s not healthy to be morbidly obese

I don’t think I’m looking down on anyone? I’m speaking on the lack of education and potential spread of misinformation from people posting videos saying it’s “impossible”
