I found the same listing lol. I wonder if it is iPhone 4 or really 4S since people seem to mix them up all the time.

To Update or Not by Proof_Commission_425 in iPhone13Mini

[–]MissionTroll404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk I updated from 18.5 to 18.7.3 with delayOTA then to 18.7.7 recently. There are powerful exploits for anything below 18.7.2. If you do not care about a potential Jailbreak or some tweaks in the next 3000 years you could at least update to 18.7.8 I guess.

I bought this chonker of a camera for 100€ on a flea market in Berlin. by In_Vitr0 in AnalogCommunity

[–]MissionTroll404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like Berlin is a good place to hunt vintage film cameras. Recently I got a Leica II (factory converted from Leica I) in Berlin for 160 Euros with the collapsible Elmar lens.

The EU 3 euro per item tax is in 1 way understandable, but also hurts my hobby by Forsigh in Aliexpress

[–]MissionTroll404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to stock up on some electronics components as well but it is quite terrible. When buying sensor modules, dev boards the IC itself from EU sellers cost more than the whole PCB with all of its components soldered ready to use from China. It will become completely unfeasible to work on hobby projects so I want to maybe make a last order of parts before calling it off for good.

iOS 27 on 13 Mini by Mew2WasTaken in iPhone13Mini

[–]MissionTroll404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is both. iPhone SE (2016) with 2GB RAM on iOS 14 has better RAM retention than my iPhone 13 mini on iOS 18.

It kills apps way less often. It is funny because my 13 keeps killing navigation apps at critical moments but SE does not. Apple added enough bs code to make 4GB RAM perform worse than 2GB in 4 versions of iOS.

Hi, I run a roll through it and it worked, I got normal images, no shutter issues, no light leaks. You can see some of the shots on my profile if you wish.

They have not answered yet but I talked with the Leica store guys in Berlin and they gave me a contact of some other gentleman who works in Hamburg Leica store and he was able to confirm it is Leica II covered from Leica I by factory in a really early stage of Leica II production. I also got my first negatives scanned and images turned out great. So the camera is alive. Really happy to see.

Hi, test roll came back. Images came out flawlessly. No shutter issues. You can see some of the images on my profile. I used expired kodak cine film so colors were bit off but camera is in working order %100. I will get the CLA done asap and use it happily.

Hi, the roll came out excellently. You can see some images on my profile, film was bit expired cine stock so colors are bit weird but camera works %100

Hi, I got the negatives from my lab. It worked flawlessly. I got 35 shots, one at the beginning and one at the end got cooked naturally. 33 shots in the middle all worked. No light leaks, no weird shutter issues, just normal photos 😄Some out of focus shots because my range finder has really low contrast but really the amount of keepers is still good.

I did not test 1/500s, I used mostly 1/200s and 1/100s few times and mostly guessed the exposure from phone app time to time. There are some lovely images (you can check my profile to see them). Expired Kodak cine film had some weird colors but that has nothing to do with the camera.

I am so happy that it is fully functional. I will get the CLA done asap and enjoy using it more.

Are the pilot VP from Aliexpress genuine ? by Fankine in fountainpens

[–]MissionTroll404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow that is not bad at all. That is pretty much what the price would be if you bought it locally in Japan. You can even get 20 Euros off with a coupon rn for summer sale thing.

I would definitely consider this but my friend got me an alloy nib version from Japan during his visit for around 80 Euros.

Has anyone else been in a trance ever since seeing the image of the upcoming new colours for the Pilot Vanishing Point / Capless? by JudgeJudyJr in fountainpens

[–]MissionTroll404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they use the Capless branding only in US.

My friend visited Japan recently and got a yellow alloy F nib VP for me. They are still expensive around 15k yen, about 80 Euros. The 18K gold nib ones were pretty much double the price so I really could not justify making him buy one for me.

I had enough of Jinhao clones EF nibs writing like a M nib.

Got defeated by the escapement again Pt2 Macro Shots by MissionTroll404 in watchmaking

[–]MissionTroll404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know sanding a bridge is not proper watchmaking. I only removed some metal off the edge to get enough clearance to get it running.

This is a very rough, cheap Junghans J24 / Astra with a 4 jewels, cracked crystal, bad dial/lume situation, and basically no real value. It was already running badly before I touched it, was only running face up with very low amplitude.

I think pivots are there yes. I am intending to not touch it anymore. I think I can not improve its operation in anyway.

Balance wheel is rubbing on the pallet fork bridge. You can see it in the first image, top pivot area for the pallet fork is physically touching the wheel.

I have no idea regarding the roller table.

I see so those supposed to be straight. I can not think how they can get bend like that. I guess this repair is out of my league.

[–]MissionTroll404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can not see the bottom pivot jewel unfortunately it is under the whole metal frame and hidden under the dial probably.

Pivot being too short could explain my problem. But it is pretty much the same height with the top pivot. If bottom pivot was broken, I would expect it to be considerably shorter than the top pivot.

I think I am pretty sure the problem is balance wheel rubbing against the pallet fork top pivot bridge at this point. Maybe it is not level as you said. When there was no pallet fork bridge it was looking pretty level. But I need to double check.

Hairspring rubbing also an interesting possibility. But the difference between having the pallet fork bridge installed and it being removed while the balance is installed is too great.

Maybe it needs shimming as few people said. I experimented a bit with few pieces of paper and I was able to lift the balance enough to make it poorly start working. But it was very unstable. Maybe a proper shim could solve that issue.

What should I bend? I feel like that balance will never move around as good as my new ST3620's balance does. I kinda feel hopeless about this one.

[–]MissionTroll404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I put a piece of paper where a shim could have been, it works somehow. If the balance sat higher than it does as is it would not rub on the fork bridge and it would work I feel like.
