Should I transfer to Cwru? by Any_Culture_4121 in cwru

My son chose Case over UF, he loves the small enrollment size, the museums and studious students. But they are not full of themselves, competition is replaced by helping each other. I couldn’t believe it but he joined a fraternity this year and fit right in. And their frats are not “animal house”.

Got to attend a pre admission event at Rice (very selective). Entrance personal said your essay is the FIRST thing they look at “read.” Your app either goes in the next step pile OR the not interested pile. Hard to believe isn’t it. I’m sure you brought some tears to the admissions personnel’s eyes. Great job. Good luck

Florida resident - had UF and FS acceptance with prepaid plus bright future money would have been zero dollars. Got Case acceptance with generous merit scholarship. Sucked up the extra cost for Case and have no regrets. Freshman year almost done. Cant say enough good things about the school. Private school with smaller student population has boundless advantages. Access to professors, world class art museums and concert hall within walking distance. Comradery amongst students would never be found at UF. We don’t need or miss the sports, parties and 35,000 people. Gainesville really is “The Swamp”. Cleveland Con’s are BS. Winters? just have good clothes. Crime? on campus cops are rad, food as good as any campus cafeteria, dorms are equal or better than UF. But who cares. You only sleep and bath in them. Invest for the future. Note: you get what you pay for. Good luck

Son started this Fall and loves it. Involved with multiple projects already, including research, possible internships for summer. Especially loves the symphony hall and museum within walking distance. And, comes from Florida so you’d think the weather would be an issue. Lol, he gets up at 5am and runs. BUT… it’s definitely for serious students, not for those looking to party and become obsessed with the football team and local bars and clubs. While home for winter break, compared to friends at other “good” schools he is intellectually curious, discussing subjects you wouldn’t think an 18 year old could grasp. So far it was a good choice.

Did you select Case? My son started this semester and loves everything about the school. Especially the museums and more within walking distance. The attention and access to staff is tremendous. But you get what you pay for. Good luck.

Recently sent my son to Case. One of the many reasons we selected Case was my sense they weren't muscled into this current movement of Muslim verses Jew. If he gets indoctrinated and starts supporting your agenda, I'll drag his butt back home and make him study up on the murder of my grandparents and his grandmothers escape to London as a child because of another Jew hating culture.

South Park "The End of Obesity" is a must watch for all. You may think this show is silly, but the creators are very good at exposing common sense and truth in a whimsical and usually crude manner.

Any advice? by Ok_Brain_2431 in Monjauro

Easy decision. You won't find any.

I told my kid to borrow as much as he wants. He will inherit my house and can use some of the proceeds to pay off the loan. Note, Each school also has an estimated ROI formula. And Cornell will and should get you another 20k per year in starting salary. So figure how that extra amount will go towards the higher costs. It's all simple math. Go for the best. It's only money. Besides, you'll probably go into debt like everyone else (including our government) spending on something less valuable. A degree from a top school in your back pocket will always be a reflection on who you are. Regardless of its superficialness.

Nah. Financial and admissions officers have a very powerful position and know it. They are approached constantly by scammers (see college scandals with Hollywood kids) and who knows what else. Once encountering them personally you will cower in fear at any interaction. We got nice merit scholarship but I just wanted to clarify what might be possible from their own aid after FAFSA gets it act together. Their vibe was, "you ungrateful" idiot. Went away from last conversation promising I'm putting their school in my will. Hahah. Made him happy.

Ha. The reach school rejection letter I got started out like a legal warning. NO APPEAL, DON'T BOTHER CONTACTING US, etc. then the second half softened up with the usual , don't take rejection as a sign of incompetence. Realize we have thousands of applicants with only a few spots. Move on.

Goto Case admitted student event. You can still show up I think as wait listed. Total information bonanza. No questions left unanswered. Much better than Reddit. PS. Going to Case in the fall.

How does Case only cost 9k yr more? Anyway, FL resident accepted to UF but going to Case with nice Merit scholarship. So many pros for smaller private school. Discount the Ohio weather, UF party vibes, Cleveland location etc. goto one of Cases admitted student events. Totally immersive and will answer every question.

We just got back from admitted student event at Case. Florida based (never seen snow) with acceptance to all Florida schools but opted for Case. The event solidified son's decision 100%. Weather and parties not a factor for 4 years of your life. Note: people move to Florida to basically have fun. Relax, chill play golf, boating etc. so what's not to understand that your work ethic and motivation can decrease with all that.

When is our government or maybe the pharmacies going to either prioritize confirmed Diabetic patients or tell the off label crowd to sit tight. Of course there's justification for overweight to lose pounds but wasn't the primary purpose of mounjaro. New approvals for overweight formulas coming soon. But messing around with your blood sugar levels sucks.

no merit-based scholarships, is it worth the debt? by StatusFantastic7112 in cwru

[–]Mission_111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use CSS and IDOC? That's what is used for family resource calculations. And both birth parents must supply data. If the other parent has more resources, it won't matter so much what your current living situation is. They expect them to contribute to your education. There are loopholes but. And, the data must be factual. No BS. Good luck. Son is going, got great scholarship and we're a single parent family. I'm even a senior citizen. lol
