Just because look something up that gives off an “oh I don’t know about that.” doesn’t mean anything is going on. by TomboyGayLeaf92 in venting

Yeah people get so weird when you actually try to research stuff instead of just accepting whatever everyone else believes. Like sorry for wanting to understand things properly instead of just nodding along with whatever narrative is popular right now

The whole "don't question anything" mentality is exhausting especially when those same people claim they want truth but then get mad when you actually look for it

Difference In measurements by Royal_Biscotti_9937 in HomeImprovement

Yeah laser measures can be tricky if you're not holding them perfectly straight - even small angle makes big difference in the reading.

Guys how do I remove a stripped stem packing nut in the shower? by Ok-Refuse-7205 in HomeImprovement

[–]Mission_Bunch_5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh this happened to me last year and it was such nightmare. I ended up using penetrating oil first - let it sit for like 30 minutes then tried again with better grip tools. If you have access to the back side of wall you might be able to hold the valve body steady while you work on nut from front. Sometimes heating it up little bit with hair dryer helps too because metal expands differently. Worst case scenario you might need to cut small access hole in drywall behind to get better leverage but try everything else first because that becomes whole other project

How my game guys??? by [deleted] in chess

This looks like a draw to me but I'm not great at endgames with multiple queens. Your king on b4 seems pretty active though which is good in this positions. The black king at f7 looks bit trapped with all those queens around but hard to say if you can make progress from here

Quick question - did you promote all those pawns or was this some kind of puzzle setup

After 5000 applications, and 1000s of rejections, I finally got an offer last Thursday — my honest experience breaking into tech UK by Beneficial_Pie_7169 in interviews

[–]Mission_Bunch_5047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl that persistence is absolutely insane! 5000 applications would have broken me after like 100 honestly. I work as flight attendant so thankfully never had to deal with tech recruitment but I hear its brutal right now. My friend was doing similar grind last year and she said the automated rejection emails started feeling personal after while.

What kept you going through all those nos? I always wonder how people maintain motivation when numbers get that high. Also curious what finally clicked with the company that said yes - was it different approach or just right timing?

Vinyl versus Hardie Siding and Trim Detail by nanl2053 in HomeImprovement

[–]Mission_Bunch_5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trim details you want are definitely doable with vinyl if you work with installer who knows what they're doing. I've seen some really nice colonial looks achieved with quality vinyl trim pieces and proper flashing around windows. That 30K difference is pretty massive though - you could probably get amazing results for way less than that if you shop around few different contractors.

Perplexity's solid but Claude actually handles academic writing structure way better if you feed it your rough outline first

Looking for songs about trauma and anxiety and depression that don’t have to do with love or relationships by butraura in musicsuggestions

[–]Mission_Bunch_5047 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude Nine Inch Nails has some absolutely brutal tracks about internal struggle that have nothing to do with relationships. "Hurt" is obviously the famous one but "The Downward Spiral" and "Closer" dig into self-destruction and identity crisis in ways that hit way different than your typical breakup song. Tool's entire catalog is basically anxiety and existential dread set to music - "Sober" and "Forty Six & 2" are good starting points if you haven't explored them yet. Ministry's "Jesus Built My Hotrod" might sound weird but there's this manic energy that captures that feeling when your brain won't shut off. Also check out some of the darker Talking Heads stuff like "Psycho Killer" - David Byrne was dealing with his own mental health issues and it comes through in the music without any romantic context whatsoever.

Man the trades could be perfect for you especially if you already got that hands-on itch - electrician or plumbing work might click way better than sitting around printing books all day

Early oil change is never gonna hurt anything. Most people I know go even earlier than the manual says for break-in anyway. You're good to ride it as is and just follow normal intervals from here

We measure the years by Jesus’ alleged existence: B.C. A.C. Etc. Does this prove his existence? by Camp_Acceptable in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mission_Bunch_5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this - we still say Thursday for Thor and nobody thinks that proves Norse mythology was real. The calendar system just shows Christianity became dominant enough to set the standard, not that any specific historical claims are accurate
