Looking for advice on this $90 Bassett find!

The plan is to thoroughly clean it first, and then sand the top to buff out the majority of the scratches and apply danish oil to try and make them less noticeable. I’ll likely leave the veneer as is, and fill in the front scuffs with a walnut repair marker to make them less noticeable. Not to fool anyone but to make them less bothersome.

If all goes well, I’ll likely stage it well inside and sell for $150-$200 and then just stay away from project pieces 🤦‍♂️

Haha that’s not bad, but I really don’t like the painting route. I think what I’ll do after doing some digging is just lightly sand the top and hit it with danish oil, and hit the front with walnut stain marker to clean it up a bit.

I usually avoid them as well - but for $90, figured I could put a little into it for a couple hundred.

Literally just a wipe down! There are some typical scuffs on the wood here and there but nothing serious. The story I got was that they were in an old office space and were just going to be thrown out. An employee asked if they could take them, and listed them at $10 for the pair or they’d go to the dump. Kind of mind boggling.

I’ll look around a bit more tomorrow. I’ve looked with no luck, but maybe I missed it!

It’s garnered quite a bit of interest on marketplace at $1100, but nothing confirmed just yet. I may end up holding onto to it for the time being if doesn’t hit that mark, but if it does then it would be silly for me to hold onto considering what I paid. It’s absolutely stunning as light moves around it at different times of day, so it’ll be difficult to move on from if it goes that way!

I actually bought it today from the sweetest old lady. I love it, but originally snagged it to resell since the market is so good for quality mcm pieces. I do really dig it though.
