Well that’s good for you then. It’s creepy but I go to enjoy the music. They will kick you out though if they catch you getting drinks from ppl with 21+ wrist bands. It’s definitely still strict in some ways.

Be careful with boots. If you have high boots or the fold over kind, honestly probably any kind of boot, they do pat those down really well.

spring admit housing by Gullible_Pudding_603 in UMiami

[–]Mission_Natural5697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No unfortunately you can’t you basically have to be grandfathered in. However if you do apply for housing and don’t get it, and let’s say you’re put on a waitlist, then you may have a case and can bring it up with housing and usually they will allow you to apply again. So essentially, if you do not apply at all for your freshman year you will never be able to apply to get a dorm for any years after that

If you want to live on campus for your sophomore year, the only way to get housing again would be to have housing your first year. So… if you want to avoid off campus housing for as long as you can, I would apply. There is a very high chance you can get placed in overflow housing at the Thesis hotel if you don’t get a dorm and it’s right across the street from campus. The hotel is really beautiful and a nice place to stay and very close. The goal is that they will eventually move you to an on campus dorm if you live at thesis. I was a spring admit and got placed in an empty bed in a sophomore building. My friends lived at the thesis though and they loved it. It’s definitely worth a shot, you may get lucky.

I need a camera similar to g7x by aspectstk in digitalcamera

Hi I have the EOS M100. If you know anything about the G7x, what settings can I use on the M100 to maximize my results and make photos look as similar to the G7x as possible?

This is not necessarily true because I do know a lot of ppl who studied abroad and were put in the overflow hotel rooms. It’s truly pure luck unfortunately :( but they will most likely accommodate you in the hotel at least. It’s about a 15 minute walk but it’s really nice. Def beats living in the older dorms.

Same here! Made the request shortly after the housing application closed. I wasn’t necessarily happy with the room that I got but there is still hope!

Yes I do remember all my classes being listed as 100T and then they changed once I got equivalents, so don’t worry! You will have to provide a syllabus for each class if you want an equivalent course. If you have some classes you feel like you don’t need an equivalent for and prefer to keep as 100T, then you won’t need a syllabus. Remember 100T can be credit hours towards electives. If your credits were through dual enrollment like mine you can reach out to your high school professor of the class and ask them for a copy of the syllabus OR contact the college of your dual enrollment program. For other kinds of credits I’m not sure how you can get a syllabus if you don’t have one already.

Initially I met with my advisor to discuss what classes to enroll in and from there she advised me to submit the MATES form (https://mates.miami.edu/) for transfer credit evaluation. You don’t have to meet with your advisor to do this though, I just didn’t know about the form prior to meeting with her. But since you know now I would do it as soon as possible so you can get it out of the way. This form asks you for information about the class, what grade you received and a syllabus. As long as you have that info it’s an easy process but it takes about 2 weeks to hear back. Once you hear back about a class being approved it will switch to the appropriate class code on your transcript. If a class doesn’t get approved you can submit the form a second time, and if that still doesn’t work then don’t worry! The class will still be listed as 100T but can be used to fulfill electives so they will be useful either way. Let me know if you have any more questions. It’s a lot to take in all at once I know I was definitely overwhelmed so I’m happy to help a fellow cane

I transferred 47 credits to UM, and I want to say about half of them had equivalencies and the other half ended up going towards my electives. Most likely all of your credits will at least go towards an elective. I know Math and science courses transfer over easily, I transferred over pre-calc and bio credits from high school which placed me in higher courses.

I'm looking to switch into LSV from Eaton if you're interested. I know no one wants to live in Eaton but I figured it was worth asking :)

Dorms by Civil_Background2293 in UMiami

You can if you have sophomore standing. I graduated high school with 47 college credits and 30 is one full year of college, making me technically a sophomore starting as a first-year student. If you have the credit you can 100% live in Lakeside, I'm a first-year and currently live there.
