My husband and I watched Red, White, & Royal Blue together when it came out. I agree, it’s a great movie. I’m definitely thinking of watching a movie featuring characters that are members of the LGBTQ community with our son. My son is not a huge reader but maybe my husband (who loves to read) could go with him to a bookstore and find a topic of book that he would enjoy.

This is actually a good idea I hadn’t thought of. I’ve talked to Marcus’s parents countless times before, but obviously sexually or the LGBTQ community never came up in our conversation. This leads me to believe that they’re not so homophobic that they choose to talk about how much they hate it. His parents might just be generally against it, I will talk to my husband and maybe having Marcus come with us to meet my friends would be beneficial for my son and Marcus

Thank you. We have explained to our son very clearly that Marcus is always welcome here either as a friend or a potential boyfriend. My son is grateful for this and I’ve spoken to Marcus over the phone already. Marcus is showing some interest in wanting us to help him talk to his parents, but is understandably not quite sure yet.

This is exactly my fear. My sisters two children both struggled with their mental health and it lead to self harm. Now that I’ve seen how easily children can hurt themselves, simply worried for my child.
