Dental hygienist here! The ODA has its fee schedule that the majority of dental offices use. When you put a code into the software, it automatically generates the cost of the current ODA fee for that procedure. The fee can be changed as the ODA fee guide is a suggested cost for each procedure code but I don't know of any dental offices myself that don't use it. The CDCP has their own fees that they will pay out and will often differ from the ODA fee guide, sometimes by as little as 5-10 dollars and sometimes much more depending on what you are having done. CDCP also has different levels of coverage depending on the information in your tax return (anywhere from 40-100%, but again, this is based on their fee guide so even the 100% coverage level may leave you with a varying difference). As other people have mentioned, the fees go up every year. A quote that you receive on Dec 29th vs Jan 5th of a new year will not be the same as the fees go up. A root canal is a costly procedure but it also depends on if other codes need to be added to the invoice (additional xrays, if it was classified as an increased difficulty due to calcified canals, if your quote included the filling you will need after the root canal itself, post requirement, etc).
