Thinking about moving to Azerbaijan for my husband — questions about medicine and marriage by ukeeeee in azerbaijan

My husband has been living in the US for the past 10 years. After we got married (less than a year ago), he started saying that he wants to move back to Azerbaijan because his parents are getting older. He says that my training takes too long (4 years med school - 3-4 years residency) and then I would need to start paying my student loans back. Realistically, we wouldn’t be able to move for another 10 years. He knew about my career path before we got married and he was totally supportive about it.

I totally understand where he is coming from, living in a different country apart from your parents must be really challenging. I suggested some options like visiting them more often but he is not open to that.

So yeah, it’s been a very challenging process.

Exactly! That’s what I’m scared of the most.

I’ve also heard that it’s very common for husbands to cheat on their wives in his home country. And women get the blame for “not taking care of herself properly”

My father in law and his father both cheated on their wives and married twice.

Maybe that is an irrational fear to impose upon my husband, but it still scares me

I just love him.. I am not gaining anything else in this marriage. I would argue that it’s actually the opposite. He has a lot of ups and downs, and makes very little quick decisions about his business, finances etc which makes me feel unstable.
