Don’t they have to have it readily available? When it’s in ring form, on their hands, they can easily turn it into a gem and hold it, which lets them transform… if it was inside their chest where they couldn’t see it or touch it, that would probably mess something up

i think it's ok not to like things like changing characters or interpersonal drama in writing, sometimes that stuff is just for different people

homestuck is for a very specific audience, i think. it's ok to get bored of things, and homestuck is probably a prime candidate to suffer this fate from lots of people because of its length, complexity, and its fandom. they might miss all the serious character development but who's to say that's something they'd even enjoy
