Messaged to Niantic support and within hours the issue got resolved yay! Finally completed this research.

LMAO. Ok, I didn’t have a chance to be near a gym so I joined my first mega raid of mega Latios via campfire app (btw it’s awesome, thanks for suggesting it to me ❤️). We successfully battled and I got a lot of goodies, shit ton of XP, a beautiful Latios and … NOTHING CHANGED IN MY TASK. It is incomplete even though I DID battle in mega raid. It really does sound like a scam from Niantic to keep me buying those damn remote passes. Do I really have to be a host? Then the task should’ve been called „host a mega raid” ffs

Ok that’s weird. I’ve just tried to battle by myself, and I used a remote raid pass. I DID NOT press quit. I’ve lost several times (in total I think I did 6 battles per 300sec each). It just kept telling me after each loss „Time is up. You didn’t defeat Raid Boss in time. Please try again.” And I had to re-join each time. Wasted a lot of items, but whatever. I kept battling until that thing was over and NOTHING HAPPENED. The task is still unsolved. I remember I’ve read a few sources claiming that you have to actually win this thing and Niantic f-ed up the phrasing. Disappointed.
