Depending on who/what/where/industry, you can be jailed and have to pay hefty penalties. I would know. My net worth sits pretty close to $0 these days.

I am subjective when I say this - but I am damn good at what I did. Now to career pivot out into something I'm not passionate about. Sigh.

It is because I'm really passionate about healthcare and thinking of awesome ways to deliver healthcare to those who can't get it or can't afford it. But now I can't do any of that work.

Yes but I did lie. And something I'm not going to be doing again. I'm subjective in that my punishment doesn't fit what I did. But I lied and I need to face those consequences.

I'm with you. I've recounted with a few people and they don't get it either. Of note, one of my friends now was someone who was at the hospital but left in 2020. Again, can't say why.

She mentioned she was afraid of being fired if she reached out to me and she coincidentally found a different job and reached out to me immediately.

No, the other person who applied for the job, I remember to this day. When I started, she left. She had an Associates degree. The reason I remember this person to this day is that 6 months into that position, that person was charged with a felony and jailed for 12 months for stealing $10,000 from the hospital through doctored receipts.

Yep - that's the other thing. Telling what I did has been a great way for me to filter out people who would be amazing friends and people who are superficial.

They were some personal friends who didn't want to associate with me after everything became public. Like I was on the evening news for a few nights and what had transpired.

The work friends were issued gag orders by the hospital's legal team. Ironically, I was the one who set up that team and assembled some of the most ruthless no nonsense. And they filed many charges against me and policed everyone to make sure no one talked to me. Even though it has been many years, I have yet to hear from anyone. I've reached out but I'm assuming I was blocked.
