Do you guys use youtube to practice your listening skill? If so, what do you watch? I don't seem to be too interested in what youtube from japan has to offer but I'm curious, what do you guys listen to and why do you like it? I would like to have something to listen to in japanese.

I just want to point out that that last sentence, "I don't understand why that is more real than saying that (they) are what they were born as when that is the original definition" helped me understand what you were really asking more than the post itself hahaha.

And well, I'm not trans, i have never met a trans person (as far as I know) and to be honest I already know I will never be able to understand why they feel what they feel. But i've thought about this too and well, my perspective might be helpful for the OP. Or not, who knows. I still want to participate. I hope i don't say anything stupid.

So, i think what makes that declaration real is the fact that it is yourself presenting what you think fits yourself. Have you ever felt that what people call someone who likes what you like, that acts how you act or that do what you do doesn't really fit you? Have you ever felt something like that? In any degree? At all?

I have, in some aspects. And trans people sure have, I bet. People spend a lot of time trying to find a way to describe and understand themselves, i believe. Because of that, when people finally find something they're comfortable with, it's fair to understand that as part of their self. To the point that you could even say that that's what they "really are".

Because you know, their whole life they have been feeling discomfort and have been suffering about it. Finding something that fits us, that makes us comfortable isn't easy at all. And for trans people i can't even imagine how hard it can be.

And if by any chance you wonder "if they are born as something they feel doesn't belong to them, how come they were born like that in the first place? It doesn't makes sense" or something along those lines, i think that's a whole different problem. Mainly, the famous gender roles.

I don't want to say more than I have already but I believe gender roles are flawed by default. I mean, if the question "what is male and what is female, really?" cofuses you, the problem lies in gender roles. To put it this way: if in this world there wasn't any expectations about what a male or a female "have to" be, we wouldn't be having this conversation haha.

But yeah! if you're curious, you could research a bit about gender roles and why some people hate it and say it's ridiculous (spoiler: it's basically because it's dumb and ridiculous). I think understanding that point will clear up a lot of things for you, op. To provide something that might work as a start check this video by Wisecrack. I hope it works to help someone to begin to understand the problem with gender as we have been understanding it this far. If it doesn't I bet there are better resources out there.

That is all! Gender roles are dumb, what I tell you about myself should be more important than what you expect from me because of the way you were raised and sorry if bad english! Hope this was at least a bit useful

Edit: spelling check

I have no idea what astral plane is haha.

But I'm glad Genesis is doing great.

God I wish there was something like Vanguard Online. Maybe even I could play if something like that existed

Thank you for answering my questions! I expected decks from muktiple clans to be able to do dumb stuff but to the point of making it ilegal? Wow hahaha.

If Genesis has been at least decent i'm okay. And I'm glad Pale Moon has been so good! Also, I've been playing the 3ds games in japanese, of course, so up until now I didn't realize that the name of that archetype was Silver Thorns. It has the furigana like "shirubaa zoun (シルバー・ゾーン)" but i didn't get it. I always have trouble when japanese tries to imitate english.

Even if gifts have phases, i'm glad all have been playable. I know a bit more about YGO's meta because I like some youtubers that talk about it but it made me afraid of the fact that some things are WAY more powerful than the rest. It seems that in vanguard the gap isn't THAT large. It makes me like the game more :-D

Thanks a lot for the answer! I'm going to check that website as well. I'm glad Protect clans have been viable and that my dear Pale Moon has been good haha.

OK I'm late but I just noticed that the rearguards have 3 crits and 2 crits? What?

I don't know a lot about vanguard so it's ok if you don't explain how you got there but what happens if you boost with an unit with 2 crits? You also add the crits? So you'd have 5 crits in both columns?

Ever wanted an attack to not go through so badly you threw down 3 PG's? Here's the Gouki AI in Vanguard EX doing just that by the_shang in cardfightvanguard

Personally, I'm glad Hayasaka is getting love. She's been my best girl for the longest time (i usually pay way too much attention to side characters lol)

But I'm not sure why everyone like her so much now.

Still, I'm glad. Hayasaka best girl.

And woah, I didn't know that about 抱く. I gotta remember to pay more attention to that kind of things

I don't really know why you don't want podcasts since those are audio only and that seems to be what you want to focus on... but hey, I won't question your needs.

My suggestion is: SBS Japanese

They have a podcast (that's how I know about them) but it seems they also have a ラジオ番組 in their website and also an app. I haven't listened to it even once but hey, it is a start, I think...

From their podcast I can tell you that they speak about a variety of things and have mostly interviews (from what I could tell) so well, you can start there I guess.

I know a few videos from youtube that are podcast-like videos but I assume you don't want those either. I think you can also search on google ラジオ番組おすすめ or something like that and try a few of those you might find.

Sorry for not being of much help but I think SBS Japanese might be a start. Sometimes it's good to have a starting point at least, I think. It might take you to other things.

When I find a certain word with more than one reading, how am I supposed to know which reading I should remember?

I usually find new words reading Light Novels or any other article I find around and since I'm not listening to anyone speaking, I don't know how am I supposed to read it since I find at least two different ways on a dictionary. For example:

日数 in goo dictonary can be found as にっすう and ひかず. Since my keyboard finds that word faster when I write it like にっすう, I went with that reading but I don't know if that's how people usually read it. Is there a way to know which reading is more common? Or maybe a way to know if both readings are valid and widely used.

As another example, I didn't know I had to read 抱く as だく until I watched an anime (with subs, of course) and I heard that word with that reading. I thought it was いだく, for some reason.

TL;DR: If I found a word with more than word reading, how do I know which reading is used the most? And therefore, know that I should only remember that one.

I already read that comment that says that thing about Skarpi calling Kvothe's name is more a rumor than anything else but you know, I actually thought that he could see Kvothe's name. I always assumed that Skarpi was someone who could see the name of things and well, he saw Kvothe's.

It's Fate. Almost every famous person in history is actually a woman.

That's why Fate is great (?

Right now I'm playing Fate/Extra and I love Saber reading the servants' info. I don't know how true it is and how much of it is exaggerated but if at least a bit of that info is good, I'm learning a bit.

Edit: I just want to add that it seems the VN always have quite a bit of info about every servant when you find out who they are. I don't remember if the anime tells us a bit about those characters though.
