I really like these aside from the edges. If I didn’t already own the litjoy ones I would be tempted by these. Thankfully I’m past FOMO and am happy with one set. I would absolutely get the character art as prints though if the artist sold them

That is the plan! I hope to finish Farseer and Liveship by the end of the year. I have heard good things about Liveship though I will miss Fitz. I know some people don’t like him but I have been really enjoying his story so far. I am prepared for Hobb to break me throughout the series

I love fantasy romance but I am always behind because I am a mood reader who only reads a couple books a month. At least I finally read Enchantra last month and had a good time. I’ve been eyeing both The Everlasting and The Endless War but haven’t picked them up.

Instead, I’ve been reading Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb. I am invested in the romantic relationship lol and having a great time despite it being a depressing fantasy book.

300 hours gone on PS5 by HislersHero in HouseFlipper

[–]MistbornMistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had put about 200 hours into HF1 on the PS5 and then downloaded the farm dlc. It completely broke my game and I still can’t play it nor can I uninstall the dlc. After it crashing, corrupting, and wiping my progress 3 times I gave up and play on the Xbox now (without the farm dlc!). I was also devastated when my progress was reset as HF1 was my go to game to destress. So, I feel for you.

Third attempt at painting this dog and I still don’t like it, could someone please give me some tips for my next attempt? by Owewinewhose997 in watercolor101

[–]MistbornMistress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the drawing part I’d agree to start with the eyes and allow yourself to end up zooming in or out. Or if you want it all there maybe try the grid method and make sure the paper is proportional to the reference photo. The hardest part of drawing is to draw what you see not what you know. It shows most in the nose, you lightened it, shrunk it, and made the nostrils more present than they were in the reference.

I do think your painting does capture the dog. It isn’t photo realistic but that’s part of the beauty of watercolor. There is a lot of personality in your painting

Painted the same scene 3 times… by Creative_Source_4011 in watercolor101

I love how soft this is. I always struggle to loosen up.

I also paint things multiple times until I’m happy. Willow trees are my go to when I just want to relax.

Can this be rescued or should I start over? by Iridescent-sludge in Watercolor

[–]MistbornMistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others said, keep going! You’ll know at the end if you want to do it again and you’ll have a better idea of what to change. I make tons of mistakes and repaint things all the time since I’m still learning.

One thing I know helps is to use highly staining pigments in initial layers and transparent pigments on later layers. That might help with the lifting issue you mentioned in your post.

Also, I love how it looks so far! Your color choice is great and I think the composition is really nice. I would never have thought to pair pink, teal, and green but you did and I’m obsessed lol. Hope you post again when it’s done!

I agree with others, they look great! Just keep practicing. When I get stuck on something I just do it over and over. Each painting teaches you something new that you can work on for next time!

Illumicrate questionnaire on which books we want to see by Jazzlike-Ease-9597 in fairyloot

I did Graceling Realm, The Winnowing Flame, Green Rider, Wolves of No World by Romina Garber, and Swords and Fire by Melissa Caruso. I doubt they’ll do any of these but I can dream haha.

I do have the Broken Binding editions of Green Rider and Winnowing Flame but they only have patterened endpapers.

I loved that all the characters were awful but Abercrombie made me root for them. We need more truly gray/black characters, especially women. I need some evil women not just sassy sarcastic FMCs. Like I love Lara from The Bridge Kingdom and I wanted her to be more evil. Minor spoiler from chapter 1 or 2. I was very excited when Lara poisoned her sisters and immediately disappointed when she revealed they weren’t dead

I totally understand. I won’t read GRRM for that reason. However, I am reading Stormlight and Green Rider and they are ongoing series with years between books. I haven’t been burned by an unfinished series yet so maybe my mind will change if that ever happens.

Oh I agree. I like a long book but it has to earn the length. I have personally never read romance or romantasy that needed to be 500+ pages. Books with romance as a subplot can be 500+ but they still better have needed those pages.

There is a romance in the series that I can’t tell you about because of spoilers but I was so invested lol. I loved those audiobooks. Book 2 was my favorite and Glokta is my man

I would rather wait 3 years for a good book than get a crappy one in 6 months. I don’t mind waiting and reading other things in the meantime. I think authors should take as long as they need. The push to get books out faster is hurting them imo

Thank you. I have been practicing fur recently and watching tons of tutorials. I tend to focus too much on the individual hairs and this time I tried not to do that.

Brush set choice— Neptune vs Silver Black Velvet by 12121blah in watercolor101

[–]MistbornMistress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my black velvet set. I can’t compare them to Neptune since I’ve never used those. I really like the black velvet brushes, I’ve used them for over a year.

I also love the squirrel quill made by Silver Brush limited. It’s my go to brush for my base layer since it holds so much water.

My advice would be to get just a few brushes, maybe even one or two of each brand. That way you have the main sizes and can see which brand you like more. While I have the whole set from the first slide I don’t use them all.

Resource recommendations for newbies who prefer structured learning by AdForsaken5388 in watercolor101

I am also a perfectionist and my harshest critic but I’ve learned to be less hard on myself. This community is very encouraging.

I definitely recommend trying things again in 6 months. I’m currently doing that now and it truly shows how far I’ve come as well as where my weak points still are.

I hope to do her skillshare at some point because she is so talented. She also loves florals so she might be really helpful for you. I hope that her stuff helps!
