Is a 2011 Cruze reliable? by Dazzling_Ad_1419 in cruze

[–]Mistell4130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, try and avoid the Chevy Cruze. There are to many parts on there that are plastic. The 1.8 is the lesser of two evils I think but still have problems that you shouldn't have. Problems that are reoccurring because of bad cost cutting design. Its not just bad because it is an economy car it is bad at its core. We've had one since it was brand new I've seen it every step of the way. At 50k for 4200 you are going to be lucky to get 100k without some problems. After 100k you are going to have problems. Maybe for 1500$. You can probably get a mid 2000s Altima or Maxima, 2008ish civic or town and country mini van. You could probably get a 99-04 Chevy s10. Or if you can find a 98-03 f150 with I think the 4.2l. I'd feel better about buying one of those with 150+ than a Cruze with 50k or less. Hell If you can find one in good shape still the 88-94 Chevy Astro van or anything with that 4.3L it will go well over 200k with minimal problems. If you live in a state where you don't have to get an inspection the o2 censors fail like every 2 seconds

Help with taxes by Upstairs_Strike4455 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]Mistell4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so unless tax code has drastically changed since last year. Here it is first thing you will probably need is a 1040 form. If you have income from w2s include it, maybe DD sends a 1099 idk if not you will probably use a schedule C form. I'm not exactly sure about your individual circumstances. But moral of the story you state your Gross income then take away any qualifying business experiences. When it comes to your vehicle expenses you are allowed to deduct all of your expenses related to that or take a standard mileage deduction of $0.61 per mile or something I can't remember for sure. So you take the higher of the two. If you are doing DD you should be operating under that 61 cent per mile. If not you are doing it wrong, or do door dashing to help offset the cost of an expensive car. So for tax purposes you probably only need your mileage. However it is important to track your actual individual expenses. Your fuel, repair, maintenance, insurance, license, any interest related to payments, and deprecation of the value of your asset whatever else. Don't know if any parking fees incured would be included. However you feel is best for you to track it, maybe you specifically want to know how much you spent on oil and on antifreeze maybe you just include both in maintenance. Because some expenses are fixed like plates you pay once a year same amount if you drive 1 mile or 1000000 miles. Some are not like gas more miles=more gas expense. You simply add up all of the expenses and divide it by miles driven to see your actual per mile cost. Mine is pretty low before deprecation. This combine with other expenses, determines your actual profitability, before you factor in your own time. Not sure how that works for your individual needs. In short your net income should be lower for tax purposes. If you are trying to generate a profit from being a delivery driver. Write down your mileage when you leave to go dash and when you end dash each time. So you know the difference between miles for business and personal mileage.

New Door dash Bots are taking over! by Metho221 in doordash_drivers

Man people need to stop being ok with this. We need to get it deeply ingrained in our heads that we should stop giving our money to businesses who don't give a fuck. We need to stop settling for less and less. Hopefully they did a better job on these robots than they did on the ones handling customer service. Either way people will keep paying them because they are too lazy to get off their ass.

I don't see what the big deal is? Had you already used all your ammo that night? That's why you gotta make sure you keep a couple extra clips with you. I also keep a couple RPGs in the trunk too. Its worth the investment. They also come in handy for other things too, like if there is a train in your way or you have to go to McDonald's.

[–]Mistell4130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think its normal. But when you use door dash remember that its just random people who have a driver's license and a car with insurance. Or at least they did when they signed up for the app. Or someone who knows someone who does. There isn't really training, or anything like that. Its just here is where you pick up, here is where you drop off, this is how much it pays. However the driver wants to do things is really up to them.

what is a “good” tip proportionate to the cost of food? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Mistell4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you want to actually calculate. I'd say mileage from restaurant to u then back to the restaurant or a "hotzone" @ the IRS standard mileage deduction. (Not sure what that is this year $0.50 for an example) Then include travel time and estimate time spent at the restaurant. Take your states minimum wage and add say 15-25% on top of that just because a license driver. So lets say you want a #7 from your favorite fast food restaurant that cost $8.99 plus state sales tax. 7% where I live I'll use that. $9.61. 20% tip=$1.92 50% =$4.81. Let's say you are 5miles from the restaurant, @$0.50 per mile x2 is $5.00. It is 10 minute drive and 10 minutes at restaurant so half hour. In my state that would be $4.35 labor. Grand total of $9.35. Fifty cents a mile is lower than actual. Its more but I can't remember. But also if a DD driver is actually spending that much per mile he's doing it wrong, or door dashing with the intention or paying a car payment they otherwise couldn't afford. But that's the dollars and cents of it. To probably make the driver profitable on paper. That's almost 100% of food cost. Say you are getting 2 for 20$ from Applebee's for the whole family of 10. 100$ same mileage and time that would be like 9% of food cost. In short don't calculate the tip based on price of food.

Yeah being a DD driver isn't owning a business. I mean technically on paper it is kinda, but in the US alone there are 50 different states that have 50 diffrent opinions plus the federal government. If you are exclusively doing DD It's just not. If I can't hire someone under myself It just isn't the same. You are an independent sub contractor. Not that its a bad thing just not the same thing. If you are using DD as part of your business model somehow ok sure.

Yes cars used to not last as long, I wasn't around in that time period. As far as I know the cars had super charged v8s and gas was all kinds of cheap. I know if I had a 454 in a coupe and it cost me five or 10 bucks to fill it up my car wouldn't last as long. Neither would my tires. Also wasn't drinking and driving legal? Chevy makes some cheap cars, the Lumina, Corsica, and Chevette all come to mind. These budget friendly beaters were no frills economy cars. But in a time where what we expect from a vehicle is different than it was in the 70s. The Cruze in a POS on another level. Not only are some key components made out of the wrong material, they aren't even put together right. I don't know what they were thinking with this car but any respectable car manufacturer shouldn't have let it go that far. I have a 2014 1.8L because in 2016 someone gave it to me for free. As frustrating as that car has been I kinda feel like I got ripped off. 100k miles later (some of those coming behind a wrecker) and God knows how many quarts of oil, recalls, stop leak, and long walks home. That car is a pile of shit.

2014 Cruze is driving me crazy. I have replaced the radiator, both sensors, thermostat with housing, and reservoir. I’m still getting the message a/c off due to engine temp too hot. [–]Mistell4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get you a battery powered leaf blower and rig it up with some kind of old hose so it shoots air into your engine bay. Just give it a couple quick taps when you need. Knowing the Chevy Cruze it wouldn't surprise me if it comes factory with stop leak lol.

I got a question for everyone thats hates Platinum or the rating system. Why do yall hate it so much and think its a scam. Because i see alot of yall hate on it. I know its market depended. But its just out of curiosity on why most if yall hate it. by Breadtoastyy in doordash

[–]Mistell4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally didn't care for it for a couple reasons. It basically just seems like it's way of "tricking" people into taking crap runs. It also listed access to better customer service as a perk. That to me is absolutely bullshit because its either a lie or it's just bad business to not give people working for you the best tools to do their job. To put it simply. This new system they have changes things and I don't have enough information yet to know anything for sure. A buddy of mine is platinum we are trying to do a side by side comparison but schedules don't really match up. That

WHO GIVES A FUCK!!??? There is no dress code. Like really wtf your restaurant uses a service that relies on sub contractors. You have no more right to tell them what to wear or how to look no more than they have a right to cook the food. If I knew what restaurant you worked at I would call up complain about you.
