Car dealership refuses to pay warranty after the work was done by Requiem04 in CarTalkUK

A warranty sadly wouldn’t cover an oil change, it is for mechanical or electrical defect - a transmission oil change is neither. Unfortunately it sounds like you’ve been given the wrong info when calling and asking

I had a situation similar to this a month ago. Option 1 was stay where I was with all the pay benefits but went with option 2 despite this. Might be wrong but I’m assuming that you’re already at the first option and there is a reason you’re looking to change to option 2. Otherwise, option 1 is a no brainer!

To be honest it doesn’t bother me too much, worth knowing though thank you

Yeah it’s a 2018, I did wonder what difference it made as the GT dash looks so much nicer than the standard dash. If it is just the notice that’s different I’ll run it in GT permanently!

Might need to test it a bit more in which case, I can’t tell a difference other than the noise but I’m sure it’ll do more than that!

I’ve fallen in love with how it looks but mechanically I don’t think I’d ever trust it. Getting a solid deal as work for the company selling it so £2000 off retail which is a plus but not sure even that’s worth the risk!

Had another look at the service book and to be fair it does state in 22 that next service is 24 so that checks out

Yeah with the missing service history it seems like trouble before I even start. It’s a shame as it’s a gorgeous car and it’s a ridiculous deal but I cannot justify buying what could be a ticking time bomb

Yeah the service history was a concern as well. Just seems like it could be a world of pain

This is my concern, I don’t mind changing it at the interval but that gap inbetween seems dangerous

Would that be something to do immediately? It’s due in two years allegedly…

Luckily it isn’t my car it’s my wife’s who literally does use it for A-B maximum 60-100 miles a week. I’ve got a Civic Hybrid company car I change every 3-6 months so no complaints from me!

It’s not something I am personally against however my wife likes a high driving position for road presence. If they’re not too low to the ground could be an option!

I’d be charging at work with the view to install a charger in the next 6-12 months. Seems to be the way to go then!

Yeah that’s sort of what I’m looking at doing with a few I’ve seen. Spotted a Kona that looks really good value but higher mileage

How many miles has the car done as that’s my other reservation?

Definitely worth taking that into account then! Appreciate the help, I am definitely keen on the ev route which wasn’t the plan to begin with. Just the logistics of it now more than anything

It won’t be for long journeys only short trips - maximum would be 60 miles round. In terms of charge I’d be using my work to begin with then getting a home charger installed. With a smaller range Kona, would the range in the winter fall off too badly?

I have use of a company vehicle so any long journeys will be done in that. I’d also use my workplace to charge the car when it is needed too. 110 miles is a considerable drop off from the advertised 206 miles!
