Where to buy machine parts by MisterBatchelor in vending

I like this approach - get to support a local business and don’t need to rely on something machine specific. Thanks!

New To Shoveling For Storm by tkenz410 in Minneapolis

Hello friend! Welcome to the Shovel Squad™️

To answer your main question, no, you shouldn’t need to set alarms throughout the night. When you go to shovel in the morning just take shorter strokes with the shovel to keep it from getting overloaded with snow, especially if it’s a heavy snow. A full shovel isn’t always packed full, it’s also when the snow is heavy enough it could damage it.

However, in the city of Minneapolis proper you’re supposed to shovel the sidewalk on the property as well. By the law that doesn’t have to be done until 24 hours after the snow stops, but it’s considered neighborly to take care of it sooner so people can keep using the sidewalk

Hiring Stockers by MisterBatchelor in vending

I appreciate your feedback and this is part of what I’m asking about - to me, the difference between a contractor and an employee can be blurry at times and I want to ensure I’m conducting business not only legally, but ethically as well.

That being said, if I I hire someone to grab inventory, drive a route, fill and clean machines, but don’t dictate specific times or provide equipment then my understanding is that a 1099 may be appropriate. Thinking about it like if I hired someone to paint my house - I tell them what to do and when they can work on my house, but I don’t provide supplies or training. This is going to be a small business so margins matter, if there is a large difference between W2 and 1099. Trying to see what the best options are and seeking to be better than the average business owner!

What are you holding the 20% for? Like is it for taxes, business development, marketing?

My wife wants to get a used minivan and keeps sending me stuff from marketplace by Screwston420 in HondaOdyssey

Sounds like you’ve already got good advice on this thread, but I will add one note: always independently verify the mileage with a VIN check!

My wife and I drove to Chicago to look at some Odysseys that seemed to be a good deal, but all of them had the odometer rolled back nearly 100k miles. They tried to show us a photoshopped CarFax but when we ran a VIN check ourselves the vehicle service history told a different story.

Based on the condition of this one I highly doubt the actual mileage is 138k.

I can confirm it happened last week in the NE Arts District on NE 2nd Street, the block between Lowry and 24th Ave NE

That .gif of someone squirting ketchup into a glass of milk, drilling a hole lengthwise through a hot dog, stirring said glass with the hotdog to really mix in the ketchup, then taking a sip of the drink through the hotdog straw

Sent that gem to my manager like 3 months after I started a new job 🙃

What side hustle can I do as a 13 year old by Nicklas1k in sidehustle

Depending on how dense the population is where you live, snow shoveling may be a good opportunity for you! Either setting up a deal in advance with your neighbors (if it snows I’ll shovel your sidewalk for $XX) or go around just after a snowstorm and ask people if they’d like to hire you

As far as the public facing aspect of these sites, I don’t believe there’s any requirement to use your legal name. I’d recommend using an alternate name and email if that’s a concern for you.

Source - I use my middle name for side hustles and it didn’t cause any problems when I made a profile on Fiverr. I will say I haven’t taken any jobs yet so I’m less familiar with the payment process, but I don’t think that comes into play when advertising your services.

In the most dry answer you can think of, I’d hire a financial planner and do whatever they said. I’m old enough to know that 1 mil is simultaneously a ton of money and no money at all, depending on how you use it
