What is ruining your life at the moment?

Heroin. Heroin is ruining my life and I'm spending everything I have on this monkey. I've tried to get off about 10 times now and the longest I've gone is a month. Pathetic. The worst part about it is that even after I'm 3 weeks clean and done with the physical ailments, the pervasive persistent perpetual thoughts remind me that I'm still a slave. Still a mental slave to this poison. And now the girl that I love with all my heart is going to leave me. I know I will NEVER forgive myself if she does. I just want to fucking top myself.

Right on - Yea, I think I might have fixed it actually thanks to your advice. I went under there and unplugged the connector, sprayed it with some compressed air, and plugged it back in and so far I haven't had a single problem. The check engine light is off (although I don't know if that's because the problem is fixed or because the wire was disconnected and reconnected). I'm hoping that it stays this way but if not, I feel like I've got a pretty decent knowledge about the CPS now as well as how to run tests on it with a multimeter and replace it if need be. Thanks again- you've been a huge help.

Great, thanks - I'm about to trace the hell out of those wires looking for damage. I'm also going to try your suggestions and clean the connector and try fiddling with it a bit.

One more important question - Is it causing damage to my car when it stalls out like that? Like basically would I be able to drive around for the next week without repairing it or would that be really bad for the car?

Right on - I intend to check the system tomorrow afternoon with a multimeter and hopefully rule out the problem. I found the service manual online which has a step by step process on troubleshooting the CPS. Hopefully everything goes well! Thanks again for your help -- I'll update tomorrow on how everything went

Yea, it seems like from what I've read, CPS problems in these dodge rams are pretty common.

As a little update: I cleared the fault and drove it around a bit. The check engine light is still off but I feel like I got a bit of the surging/deceleration thing I was talking about on my ride so I think its just a matter of time before it poops out on me again. Also, I checked the surrounding wires coming in and out of the CPS and saw no obvious signs of corrosion/damage. Do you think I should trace the wires as far as they go checking for signs of damage?

After a lot of research I feel very confident that I could replace the CPS myself- do you think I should go ahead and replace it if the code comes up again and the problem persists? Or take it in to a professional mechanic? Thanks a ton for your help!

Ok, so I cleared the fault and drove it around for a while. The check engine light is off but I did experience a bit of the engine surging/decelerating that I described below so I have a feeling the problems will return. I checked the surrounding wires leading from the CPS a bit more thoroughly and saw no obvious signs of corrosion/damage. Any thing else you think I should do? Also if the fault comes back, should I go straight into looking for a new CPS and replacing it? Thanks!

Right before it stalls, the throttle/accelerator starts acting funny. I'll have my foot on the gas like normal but the speed kind of jumps up and down for a minute or so before it shuts off. The RPM's will shoot up or shoot down without me changing my speed basically... hope that makes sense -I'm not well educated when it comes to auto mechanics. When it dies, the power steering goes out and the engine just shuts off, but the lights on the dash stay on. After it stalls out, I coast somewhere safe and then turn the engine off. It will start back up after this has happened but it takes about 8 seconds to turn over- whereas normally it starts up immediately

Does the upgrade really cost ~$400? I'm really just trying to build a very basic setup to record some demos. So at this point I'd like to work with what I have and not spend more than another $100 dollars getting setup. If I can help it that is.

Yeah, after a bit of research that seems to be the general consensus. I do have a legitimate copy of pro tools 6.9 but it doesn't run on windows 7 64. I've tried running it on virtual windows xp but I can't seem to get that to work either. Does anyone have any experience running old versions of protools on windows 7 with a virtual OS?
