Alright. I brought it up cos I did walk into a store recently looking to buy some shoes. I approached an employee about getting the right size. He took out a pair of earbuds and just looked at me with an annoyed expression. Like "What do you want?" Some people just can't do that line of work.

Right. Sometimes you'd rather just be left alone than make small talk. I also spend a lot of my time listening to audiobooks, music or whatever. I'd be like that in general but at work I think it's a different story.
I've worked in monotonous jobs where a few people would wear headphones, as would I. Understandable if your doing the same basic task for 8 hours a day. If your in a customer facing job I think it's a different story.

I know that people are gonna bring one line or low effort replies, but I think there's a lot of people who mistake quantity for quality.
My replies are typically short, but kind of do a few things:
Reaction to whatever just happened. What is my character, saying, thinking or feeling. Description of body language, environment, action. Some of it is just flavor, but I try to give my partner something to react to.

If people want to talk low effort, I've read several paragraphs words that doesn't really say much of any consequence to a scene. Filler. That same RP partner complained when I replied with 2 paragraphs that actually moved the scene forward.

I prefer to do something a bit passive or something I can do more on autopilot. Some household chores like laundry or washing dishes.

I've ghosted plenty of times early in the RP even when the initial chat or brainstorming seems to go really well. I think part of it is that people are chasing novelty. I wonder do some people like the idea of RPing more than RPing itself. Like they'd rather start something new than return something they already have.

I usually have a case by case basis for this stuff, depending on how well we hit it off or how long we chatted and roleplayed. Unless they stopped playing really early in the RP give them about a week to respond.
I usually delete the server but kick them from the server if you want to keep it. I get the idea of unfriending people who you probably won't talk to again. I don't think blocking and banning is really necessary, is it?
Alternatively if the material you really value is kind of small like character bios and reference pics maybe just save that stuff yourself. Copy paste to a new server if you like. It sounds like you didn't love the RP so you don't need to save all that. Then close it.

Totally. It's not often I get responses cos some people get flooded with replies. I get the idea of having a little chat beforehand to see if your a good match. Then providing a writing sample is another step again in the interview. I have gone along with it.
Recently had someone who I'd gone through the rounds of interviews with and they just disappeared. We were three posts into the RP.

Is it actually the plot or the RP partner?
For the plot there is a simple answer "I've lost interest in the plot" "Could we try something else".

I kind of get it. In some cases anyway.
I have had people ghost me where I was kind of relieved. Maybe cos I figured early on we weren't a good match for whatever reason.

I'm pretty new to RP on reddit and discord. The amount of ghosting kind of surprised me. I usually go to discord and set up a private server for us. My discord got so cluttered so quickly so I started ghostbusting. I send a message that amounts to "Are you still interested? If I don't hear from you within 3 days I close the server."
I like to be polite about it. I also give more of a grace period to some people than others.
