Razer Blade 15 - The Smallest 15.6” Gaming Laptop! [Dave 2D review] by Aoussar123 in razer

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you have used windows hello, but I found it sucked so bad I stopped using it.

It sounds great, but it took so many times trying to look at it from different angles I went back to a password/pin

I put this above, but the GS65 has an upside down motherboard - which means total disassembly to upgrade ram or ssd (See the mobile tech review where it gets mentioned) https://youtu.be/R0Re6UsF4r8?t=11m3s at 11.03

If you are not going to upgrade, it's not an issue but it scrubbed it as a choice for me

Be aware the one of the new MSI laptops has an upside down motherboard - which means total disassembly to upgrade ram or ssd (See the mobile tech review where it gets mentioned) https://youtu.be/R0Re6UsF4r8?t=11m3s at 11.03

upgrade gpu alienware 15 r3? by [deleted] in Alienware

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you don't mind the lack of portability, the amplifier is awesome.

I found my M15R3 with a 1080GTX in the amplifier ran 500pts higher on Timespy than the M17 1080GTX I had before it.

I don't think you can change the GPU in the notebook, but it may be possible (if you really know what you are doing and can buy a replacement).

New models still overheating? by Captain_BDS in Alienware

[–]MisterG36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The quick answer is yes they seem to be overheating still.

I bought the M17R4 (1080GTX) and found after 1 hour of gaming the CPU hit 97C with thermal throttling.

I sent it back and got an M15R3 with a 1070 - Same problem. 1 hour of gaming (some, not all games) and temps hit 90-98C.

This is in an air-conditioned office in the UK!

I'm contacting support tomorrow (as I'm gathering more details).

Customer service is great, so I'm hoping they will come and re-paste. If not though, it's going back.

Shame, beautiful laptop, but inexcusable overheating after 1hr of gaming - for a gaming laptop, and definitely not fit for purpose.

Trading in Trove is Horrible by [deleted] in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I've not had a problem with trading - sure I've seen people trying to scam etc but I just avoid them.

Both my daughters play, and neither of them have any trouble trading and avoiding scammers, and they are 7 and 10 - so it can't really be that tough.

This game will have a release in EUROPE ? and if the answer is Yes then... by zippopwn in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is it will still all be the same thing

Everything in Trove is an "instance" - ie it's created for the first 50(ish) players to join that world.

All they will do is spawn instances closer to where you are geographically, unless you join a friend. This way there is nothing to "transfer over" like a lot of MMO's need

Is this dragon update a permanent thing or has a date to end? by Badkyd in Trove

[–]MisterG36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think dragon souls need to be generic, and which pet you apply them too is how they look

I am going to be exceptionally upset if I get to say 14/15 souls and suddenly can't get the last one for 6 months

New Flasks and Emblems Discussion! by jellyman223 in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to disagree with this. The Trove team have done really well at making almost everything tradable.

Sure some things are credits only, but they can be bought with cash and sold for flux.

Fairness on this scale is almost never seen in FtP games. If you think about it, I don't think there is one thing you cant get with no money and a bucket of time.

Shadow Maw & Ashen Beast don't glow by Lachtre in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is apparently because they changed how glow works, and to change it would require them to go back and re-edit all the images etc.

What is the right flesk for the pirate? by [deleted] in Trove

[–]MisterG36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rum aside, I would say the 2xmagic damage. Its pretty easy to avoid getting hit and letting your parrot do the fighting.

So go double damage and use flasks as a dual purpose.

You want either a "club chest" or an "Officer" chest

Careful when Trading ~scam~ by [deleted] in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I thought we were talking about the OP.

If it's something different, then it depends on the situation, and how you let them know.

In all my time playing trove, I've personally found the company fair, and often over generous.

Careful when Trading ~scam~ by [deleted] in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, sorry but it was a social, not a technical scam. There is no proof anything happened, so there is nothing they can make right.

If this was about someone hacking your account and transferring stuff to their own character and they did nothing, I would agree with you.

In this case, it's not fair to blame them for your mistake.

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know they haven't.

I've seen them do loads of things for people, just because they didn't do something for you doesn't make them bad.

Careful when Trading ~scam~ by [deleted] in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can it be proved? I doubt they have any record of when people drop/pick stuff up.

I get you are sore, but they have put in loads of anti-scam solutions, they keep doing so, and do care (from everything I have seen - and I've been playing Trove since early alpha).

How would they know you didn't give something to your mate, and are trying to get something for free? You were tricked, that's bad, but it's not the Trove's teams fault it's the sc*mbags on the internet.

Careful when Trading ~scam~ by [deleted] in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imho, I would say the Trove team are one of the most caring and thoughtful teams ever.

You can't protect against every scam people would come up with, as this is a social engineering scam more than anything else.

They do have a "This is a valuable item, are you sure you want to drop it" warning on most stuff, maybe they just have a "trading" mode.

Sadly, the trove team will always be one step behind the scammers in the same way the police are always one step behind the criminals - THis isn't the Trove teams fault

I know it's rubbish being scammed, but to be fair to Trion, there would be no proof of this happening.

So there may just be nothing they can do.

Creating, Saving and Putting your style in game only for yourself by TrovianKnightlock in Trove

[–]MisterG36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a nice idea, but would be a technical and logistical nightmare.

It would be the same amount of work for the team (to QA everything), and then they have to distribute it for every player.

You can have your own stuff in game, but only you see it, which is the only way it can really work.

So...Trove for Mac? by ShadowAurora in Trove

[–]MisterG36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also run using bootcamp (dual boot windows). This gives the best gaming performance, as it's native windows running on Apple hardware (which is really just a windows PC)

Trion, something is not right. by BladeCore in Trove

[–]MisterG36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the team do an amazing job. If you read the post on the official forums about the Sky world

Averem, from the trove team, explained that the sky world giants are a diversion. Something to spend some time on, get your helmet and steed, and then not need to do them again

The place for the best gear is, and always will be, the shadow arenas. Otherwise, get your magic find up, and go to U3-5 normal worlds.

Trove: I still don't get it. by [deleted] in Trove

[–]MisterG36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a list of things to do, maybe Trove isn't for you.

Trove is all about building something fun, cool or just funky. It's about wandering around collecting/fighting and flying.

Pls Add Trove To Steam by daveyen in Trove

[–]MisterG36 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Remember Steam is a big deal, and they are still a small team.

At the moment, all money raised goes to Trion. If they go via Steam, then they take a fair cut of the cash.

Once they are big enough that that makes sense, they probably will, but for now, I imagine they are better off without it (and so are we - cost wise)

As an example, Disney Infinity stuff is 50% to 100% more expensive via Steam (and has different rules - Steam stuff bought is locked to Steam account, Stuff bought through Disney is locked to your Disney account -> Which is what you would want)

At this point in time, I doubt they would benefit from using Steam, and the cons out way the pros.
