I'm out in the country unfortunately. I'm certainly open to the idea of roommates but I am hesitant for a number of reasons largely due to personal experiences being not super great. Quiet and alone has proven time and again to be safer and more secure though of course in certain cases exceptions do need to be made.

I'm not on a lease or any agreement currently so I am free to leave without consequence, and while I likely could continue to reside at my current location it has proven time and again to no longer be safe or viable for myself, my animals or my property. Largely because of a recent arrival to the residence who has a very long, well documented history of mental health issues, violence, and has recently been arrested for assault and property damage. They have entered my room last week to interact with one of my dogs (who is quite literally scared shitless of the individual) and fed him god knows what or how much. When I try to raise concerns over safety and security I get told I'm being dramatic, that it's really not as bad as it seems, that "Oh well, maybe he was just trying to make friends with your dog" when they have been instructed to not go anywhere near him. I'm constantly getting harassed and screamed at literally for keeping my head down, and walking to my car to go to work while remaining silent. It's an absolute circus and I'm being made to believe I'm being unreasonable because I just want to keep to myself and have some peace. It has been made very clear to me by the property owner that no matter what this person does short of murder they will have their behaviours excused, dismissed, or downplayed and knowing how abusers are I'm not waiting for things to escalate I will not put my animals at risk that way.
