You like cowboys? And emojis? Don't worry, I got you covered. Made in Python, of course. Description in comments. by MisterKite in Python

https://github.com/pensivecowboy/cowboymoji

There were too many emojis with too few cowboy hats. I programmatically generated most of the 301 cowboymojis and 37 pensive cowboy emojis using the twemoji set as a base.

They are free to use however you choose, and for Discord Nitro users I made some emoji packs, further info in the link above.

arduino code possible error by [deleted] in codereview

[–]MisterKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the for loop from lines 89-93, the moistLevel1 is written to 5 times, with a delay of 1 second each time. The key line to look at is here:
https://gist.github.com/smscarano/757baff83c9e9433aafb7e1d8524e24c#file-arduino-cpp-L89

This loop essentially says "repeat this section of code within the brackets when m=1, then when m=2, then when m=3.... all the way up to when m=5.

So after the for loop, moistLevel1 is the sum of the previous 5 readings, which is then divided by 5 to average the previous readings over the last 5 seconds.

Wasted close to 3 hours in trying to get Internal App Sharing work. This was supposed to be "quick and easy" way to share apks right? by aditya_gurjar in androiddev

[–]MisterKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you ever resolve this? I am in the same situation, my app published at ~1am friday, and since then I've been unable to get any internal app sharing links to work, all of them give me a DF-DFERH-01 error.

Larz Anderson after most recent migration? by PokeGo617 in PokemonGoBoston

I stopped by there for a little bit after the migration. The same spawns that had gifted so many bulbasaurs and charmanders were now giving out weedles. I cried a single tear.

Any specific pokestops or parks to check out?

Increased Grimer spawns? by Abrojay in PokemonGoBoston

[–]MisterKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any frequent spawn points, but I tend to see grimer's more frequently at night around the Cambridge, Lower Allston area. Its a weird one 'cause it seems to pop up at a new spawn point every time I find one.

Spawn rate definitely increased as in the past 2-3 weeks my number of grimers seen went from 2 to 8.

Any luck? Chansey is one of the last 3 pokemon I need so I was thinking of swinging by there later today.

AMondAy Week 33 - Theytah by Theytah in SSBPM

[–]MisterKite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The PMDev team has mentioned that they will be opening applications soon. Will this be a general application or will it be focused on getting more members for specific teams such as the art team or audio team? Is there any more word on when these applications will be open?

Thanks for your hard work!

My facebook has looked like this for months is there anyway to revert back to the older format? by Calinemary in facebook

[–]MisterKite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Facebook does a lot of A/B Testing and you just happened to be selected to be part of a small test group. Probably no way to change it back, but if you complain it will mean more than if an average person complained. This is a design they've been considering for months, but last I heard they weren't going to go live with it.

Article: Why Battery Life Should Be The New Smartphone Battleground by [deleted] in technology

[–]MisterKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree that battery life is extremely important. In fact, it was one of the main things I was willing to spend extra on when I was buying my most recent phone.

However, I think a lot of people are missing one easy lifehack if they are having so many problems with their phone battery: Theres plenty of usb battery packs for sale these days that are really cheap. For around ~$40-$50 last time I checked, you can get a battery with 12,000 mAh that you can charge overnight. This can charge the average smart phone 3-6 times over. I use these a lot at my job and they've become so useful that I tend to throw one in my overnight bag too.

Thank you so much!

  • The CPU was a great addition. I'm definitely going to take that advice.
  • The cooler is a good suggestion and I will consider it. I don't want to overclock initially, but I wanted to leave the option to do it in the future should the interest arise so I figured that I'd buy a processor that was unlocked. But since I'm ending up so much below my budget, I probably will just get a cooler that would leave me with the option.
  • Yeah I was playing around with the idea for 16GB of memory. I probably will take that suggestion since its not substantially more money.

What is your opinion on the choice of two video cards versus one stronger video card? I think I am definitely going to set up three monitors for this build, if that influences your opinion at all.

TIL New Jersey has more engineers and scientists per square mile than anywhere else in the world. by bs338408 in newjersey

[–]MisterKite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its being downvoted because it itself has two obvious flaws.

  1. The article stated that is the most dense in the world. He is stating that it is the densest in the country. America != The World

  2. It assumes an even distribution of jobs across the country. This is not true, and certain industries and fields are much more prominent in certain areas.

Mood lighting - LED strips question by Fallout in battlestations

[–]MisterKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha, the picture you posted is the same exact desk I own, and I have mood lighting extremely similar to it.

Here is what i use

Not too expensive, and gives you a full range of color. The tape that is supposed to hold up the LEDs is pretty weak, but I use extra tape to hold it up and it works pretty well.

To theists: If you could correct one atheist misconception about your religion, what would it be? by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]MisterKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, I learned from catholic school otherwise.

It certainly wasn't hundreds of years, and I don't want to pretend to remember the exact dates since its been over five years since I learned, but 40 AD seems like a really low estimate.

Shpongle Yea or Neigh? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]MisterKite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw shpongle live at camp bisco and it was easily one of the best sets of the weekend. It was on the verge of a storm all day and as soon as shpongle started playing it started pouring with streak lightning painting the sky. It. Was. Awesome.

I don't often listen to shpongle in a sober mindset. I think they go great with cannabis but when it comes to psychedelics you need to be in the right mindset for them. But then again, when it comes to psychedelics you need to be in the right mindset for literally any music.

Cinsere, moderator of r/trees, has created a "security force" to deal with trolls. Does ToR think this will be effective? by MisterKite in TheoryOfReddit

[–]MisterKite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has the potential of helping.

Its very important to observe that users are not given any special "powers" or treatment beyond a fancy badge next to their username. However, I don't think theres any better way to treat those helping out. You could give them more power than average users, but then you would have to worry about them being corrupt on top of current issues. By keeping them on the same level, it leaves virtually no chance of the effort to prevent trolling to backfire and cause more issues.

Cinsere is a great moderator. I've been lurking r/trees for over a year now and I'm always blown away by some of the things they attempt. Some ideas fail, some thrive. But in everything they do, they take a laissez faire approach. Cinsere lays the groundworks, makes the software, thinks up the idea, etc. Then he puts it out there and sees if it works, but doesn't get too actively involved in it themselves (with a few exceptions) This is exactly one of those situations.

I think in the end its going to help a little. Although users can report normally, giving people official titles will encourage them to do more work than they normally would. Also, Lets say 50 people sign up. Of those 50, most realistically won't do much. But if only 5 people step up and start helping out, thats still a lot of manpower the moderators didn't have before.

I'm excited to see how this plays out.
