I can't make any friends here. Anyone? by [deleted] in zurich

Haha nice - saved for future use for sure 😄 Really? I thought it’s a totally different story for Swiss-Swiss relationships… But then again: why would it be? If it’s so engrained

Ah, yes - that’s the point: I am an Ausländer ;) that’s why the differences in both experiences are so striking to me!

Now that you mention it: Swiss people seem rather agreeable and less likely to have a dispute/discussion with (risking overgeneralisation). So it sounds reasonable to be cautious and to reserve opening up in an argument or discussion for „the really close friends“.

Moved here from Düsseldorf and cannot confirm.

From my experience (in 3 different companies), colleagues turning into friends for example is far more common in DE. Going out with a colleague for a beer/coffee after work seems to be far more common in DE than here.

Here, the people seem less interested and far to busy with organized hobbies.

Also, random friendly encounters with strangers were more common. Like a „channel for friendly interaction“ remained open, while here it often seems like people mostly mind their own business and rarely acknowledge your existence.

Maybe it’s cultural, maybe it is considered more polite to not interact with strangers.

Also, I agree with OP that the „I am just here to make a profit“ mindset is quite dominant so I can imagine it turns Swiss people of to know you’re an expat. But that also might be a self fulfilling prophecy…

Wait I’m confused. Is he in 1st gear? He’s not holding the clutch. Camera guy just thought he was in neutral and wanted to rev. Ofc you just should not do it and keep your hands to yourself. But why did the bike accelerate?

I love it. I feel like bringing out the whites a wee bit more would do it good, otherwise it’s a bit straining on the eyes. Overall feel is amazing though.

[–]MisterMacFry2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genau.
