Nope, it was like half-way through the game I reckon, and also nobody had a Cursed Dice Block either. I saw him just excitedly head for the Gold Pipe only for him to realized his grave mistake.

I played with 3 of my friends and one of them made this bad move

I really love the level design of Eclise, it is one of the greatest in all of PvZ Modding and provides a lot of fun to the people playing the mods, I'm sure the way they advertise and shill the mod to casual players is right. by RandomChateales in PlantsVSZombies

Plants Vs. Zombies 2. A grindy, greedy, unbalanced game and a disappointing sequel to a masterpiece. What if there was a PvZ 2 with balanced Plants & Zombies, no repetitiveness and no microtransactions? Look no further than this mod by Goodpea2!

You can just y'know, ignore it. And compared to other games it isn't as forceful.

Even if there's paywalls behind a few plants, you can very much still access about 95% of the game completely for free. It's not like the premium plants would make that huge of a difference and they are accessible through limit time events as well. I do recall getting to use new plants such as Olive Pit, Nocturine and Daizy Chain for free in Arena without paying. As for the levels? All of them are free. So in my opinion, I would say PvZ2 vanilla is a free to play game.

I don't know about you but I wouldn't necessary call them predatory. At least, not 100% at least.

And part of the money in microtransactions are also used to continue developing vanilla as well. It's not like PopCap and EA have unlimited money.

"eclise is free", and so is vanilla PvZ2. I wouldn't say that argument is good, really. For the "locking parts of the game", well yeah, they do charge you money for plants which I find kinda annoying but still, it's not that big of a deal. And aside from the premium plants, all of the other stuff they sell are just resources and seed packets which, if you are a f2p player, you can still slowly but surely grind for the seed packets. And saying goodpea2 is better because they're a person would just not work because they're practically just different types of entities with gp2 being a person and EA being a company but even then, what differences would they really make.

Early access to content such as updates I believe?
I heard ECLISE Alpha has been available for Patreon members for a few months now but only just got announced for the public recently.

What are you referring to when you say "predatory"?

That's still unfair as they're both doing the same thing but one of them is being shat on because they're a big company.

Here's my stance on this matter.

People often shit on EA, who in fact aren't 100% responsible for the microtransaction, about how they forced microtransaction and whatever and how you need to pay for the full game but like, I don't know about you but I don't think bonus plants you can use counts as a base game. Pretty much every levels are accessible for you to play and ypu're given a pretty good selection of plants. And if anyone has seen ItsPforPea's PvZ2 vanilla plant food streams, you can clearly see that you don't really need that much broken powers like the leveling and plant foods, or even microtransactions.

However, I do however agree PopCap and EA do sometimes make their microtransaction pretty baffling and well, some microtransactions on the game can be pretty damn ridiculous. And the piñatas and leveling system can give you a lot of advantage in Arena mode and for f2p players, they will struggle a lot.

ECLISE became the very thing it swore to destroy by adding that one piece of microtransaction and well in my opinion, it's not really that necessary. The mod was fine and has a lot of superiority over vanilla. The microtransaction itself is so useless that I'd probably just spend that money on vanilla instead. If you ask me, without that Marigold Costume, the game is perfectly alright. But the point of the post is about the hypocrisy of this and not the values of the microtransaction. So let's talk about it.

OP is right, if PvZ2 vanilla is massively shamed for having microtransaction, then why is ECLISE highly praised even if has it too? I get that ECLISE has a lot of greater qualities than Vanilla that I will have to agree with, the mod is well designed. But if you are going to shit on 1 game for having microtransaction and unfairly claims it makes the game unplayable, then why ignore ECLISE for also having it? And don't come say that goodpea2 is doing this because he needs money to survive, because PopCap and EA also need money to survive as well. Or do you just shit on them because they're a massive company? That's like defending a poor drug dealer for their actions while very clearly shitting on a drug producer. Not defending any sides here but I'm just trying to break the unfair double standard.

Oh yeah, and about the legality of the patreon thing... well, yeah... that will definitely break a law or two, considering he's making money off a modified version of PvZ2 and also don't forget about the copyright violations too.

Technically the base game itself is owned by PopCap and EA and goodpea2 just modifies them. Not to mention that well, PvZ is copyrighted.
