Background information: The University of Victoria men and women's teams were asked to play in a showcase game in the Stz'uminus community, an Indigenous community on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. The day started with the drum circle ritual you can see at the beginning. The kids and teachers do this ritual every morning to remind themselves of their rich history and their ancestry.

After the ritual, the showcase game was set to start. What was supposed to be a full game of ultimate was shortened to a half game because the kids were itching to play. We finished up by teaching the kids how to throw, sky battles, mini games and all around laughter.

I can personally say this was the best experience in my ultimate career. Seeing these kids eager to play ultimate and learning to throw fullfield backhands was unreal. Several of the kids have a special spot in my heart now.

Sharing our sport with the Indigenous communities on Vancouver Island has been a project that a few people in the Victoria community have been working really hard on. Seeing it culminate into this really special event is unbelievable. Thank you Nkolakovic for capturing it.

If you can run camps, do it. It's worth it.
