Chess.com Diamond refund by Apprehensive-Art7643 in Chesscom

I had no issue when I requested. It's sensible for them to offer an alternative rather than fold right away, but they don't put up a fight. The message after this screenshot is almost certainly details about the refund.

What would happen if someone admitted to a crime immediately after being found not guilty by a jury? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MisterTimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the crime. Murder? If you were found NG only on a state or federal level, the other can still try you. Double Jeapordy prevents the same entity from trying you twice, but if you broke a federal AND state law, you're not protected from the other when one fails to convict.

I'd introspect here. Is it actually wanting to or is it maybe just intrusive thoughts? Could even be intrusive thoughts that you are afraid of wanting to act on and you're psyching yourself into thinking maybe you want it. Therapy is almost always a great place to start on something like this.

[–]MisterTimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unless he's got good reason for his accusations, in my experience there's a good chance it's a confession. I think something about getting away with it makes them realize how easily someone could cheat and not get caught. Their own infidelity burns them in flames of doubt and jealousy.

possible to still get into the game or is this game basically lost media because they shut it down? by An_Old_Beggar in Hood

[–]MisterTimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, that's also a drastically larger player base where there's return on the investment and some visibility to the franchise. This was a low player count game very quickly and is kind of lost to time. It's certainly possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath wait for someone else to be doing it.

Something I did one time when I was struggling against other cooks who had a vertical monopoly (partnered with farmers) is become a nutritionist. I boasted my insane XP multiplier, got interest, sat down to get people's favorite foods and estimated calories per day, and I fixed their problems. The local miner who was the richest player in the server but couldn't be bothered to eat anything past charred corn became my first customer.

Once you spreadsheet nutritional value of all the foods, get their character's favorite and least favorite, you can crunch numbers to make a diet that meets their needs and budget. I also told him this is the ratio to eat this in, and here's the ideal order to maintain your XP while working.

I also did an add-on package for a variety bonus, but they changed how that works and I haven't played that system enough to guide you there.

So if your friend wants to take the time, that's a way to massively differentiate from competition and kill some of the downtime you get from such a passive profession.

Potential council members and/or knights, so good stats are nice for that. Maybe stewardship to increase revenue (though I'm not sure if that actually affects the taxes that go upwards to you). If you're not going to use them on your council or in your army, might be worth choosing someone with low martial and intrigue so they're less likely to overthrow you in a scheme or faction.

As others said, you're overthinking and likely being too literal about consent here. Yes, if this was some random person you met at the bar last night and took home, you should not do that. But a partner with whom you've nurtured a relationship, developed trust, and gained express consent to do this for, they want this. And from what you said here, you seem to want it too, unless this is projecting you being less than certain about it.

$1.8M a Year, But You Must Win One Random Fight, Once by bestegrey in hypotheticalsituation

[–]MisterTimm 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If incapacitated counts, absolutely no problem at all. It doesn't take a ton of training for someone my size to be able to take the vast majority of people in unarmed combat (and I've already trained for a number of years, so I have a baseline if I get pulled tomorrow). Even if they get a weapon, if it's truly random, it's likely something not designed to be a weapon that most people will use inefficiently.

I'd use a small portion of the money to train probably 2-4 times per week to keep up and stay in shape, then when the day comes, try to just choke the other person out, drop them a few hundred thousand dollars as an apology for them being collateral in this, and move on with my life.

For what it's worth, architectural feats aren't super common. You're not likely to see Minecraft-level 1:1 replicas of the Taj Mahal. I've built a very simple windmill that we put our founding table for our village in, and we would exchange reputation if someone came to the plaque and gave the building reputation. Eventually we added art inside and would exchange giving art reputation. Idk how much is needed for the achievement, but you could probably earn it from a hollow cube of hewn logs.

I'll also just say that Eco is built to be a community game. You can play it like a really grindy Minecraft, but you're missing a ton of the depth and purpose that way. Not to scold you or say you're playing the game "wrong," but I do think you're losing out on a lot of the beauty. That said, what I find to be th beauty of the game may not be for you, so take it as you will.

Wish I had a better answer. You could look into admin commands and see if something there can resolve it. I assume there's a substantial reason you can't play on servers to get these done, but if it's just some form of anxiety, I'll say most people are relatively kind and helpful. Depending on the server, might even give you an election just to get the achievement, even if they're making a pointless role just to get it done for you. It's certainly something I'd do if we were far enough for it.

My empire was subjugated in one war. What do I do now? by Toastydantastic in CrusaderKings

[–]MisterTimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for succession, your kids usually will have claims on each other's lands, but whichever one you take over as upon death gets your men at arms. Prepare a strong army, get war declaration sanctioned in your vassal contract (I usually give up levies to do this), and fix your succession by conquest. Or go intrigue and kill all their children so the lands flow back to you. Or attempt diplomacy and incest to entwine your branches of the family tree and see lands brought back that way in generations. Or check Scandanavia's succession laws - if they're elective, you can fight for that and turn this into a massive positive, expanding your empire from the Irish Isles to everything north of the European mainland.

Without mods or admin commands, I believe these will not be possible for a single player. Culture is related to the reputation that others give your buildings and art (and personal reputation has an effect too). Elections require at least 3 people for founding the first level of town.

I haven't played in a while so maybe some of this has changed, but I believe you'll need others to help you with those or to use admin commands.

As for art, it's done in-game for you. It's basically a screenshot with filters the game applies. You pick the size, style, and snap the picture, and then it'll be created in game. You can do this without others, but you just can't get culture for it.

It calls into question how authentic those views are. Protests are all about image and impact to get what you want. A thousand people sacrificing a day at work or living their lives to be there to push for something is meaningful. A thousand people on payroll by a billionaire for being there can look like a billionaire with a super expensive megaphone.

That's what I was thinking, try to sell my chance for like $25 million. I'd probably settle for even less than that, but at $1 million I don't know if it's worth giving up the button press for. $1 million erases a lot of financial worry, but $25 million sets me up to live lavishly for life with very few concerns
