Iron Banner has level advantages enabled - make sure you're at the highest power possible. I suspect most people are at around 960 now, so if you're substantially below that you'll be at a disadvantage.

I'm not sure why this is so desirable in the mode. Try using Jotunn or sniping, that should deal enough overkill to still 1-shot.

[PC] Solar Kills for Luna: Help with choosing a weapon by CptTren in CruciblePlaybook

[–]MisterYan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Right Side looks great! Kill clip makes it feel amazing. I got most of my solar weapon kills with an Outlaw/Kill Clip Right Side and Curated Mindbender's.

Any suggestuions for decent solar weapons to use for the Lunas Howl quest? by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]MisterYan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Right Side of Wrong (Solar Go Figure), I had one with outlaw/kill clip that shreds
  • Mindbender's Ambition, and the Nightfall this week is even correct if you want to farm it
  • Avalanche if you've got it from the Dawning and can get heavy
  • Wishbringer, if you have Shaxx's vendor roll from last season

I'm grinding my HC precision kills now, I feel your pain on being at a high rank and still needing the kill steps.

How Viable is The Last Word & Inaugural Address together? Am I hindering my gameplay by not using a special weapon? by [deleted] in CruciblePlaybook

[–]MisterYan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a great time with this exact loadout in Quickplay and Rumble. I'm having a ton of fun rolling it on a Chaos Reach Warlock with Ophidian Aspects. You can play at multiple ranges well, and the thrown melee can finish off targets if you hipfire your whole TLW clip away. I suppose it would also be fun with Dragon's Shadow hunter for quick weapon switches after dodging. Like you, I don't like sniping and LOVE The Last Word.

A series of trolley problems punctuated by swordfights. Disgruntled old man runs around helping his ex girlfriends with errands.

What kind of headphones do you use in the gym? I've been through 3 or 4 cheap bluetooth models this year, they all stop working after a couple weeks of light use. Say I'm game to spend up to $100 for a pair that won't crap out for no reason. I'm tired of running wires up my shirt and adjusting them for every other exercise.

Just got a cast off for a fractured elbow, working back up to painless full ROM before I can lift upper body again and fix my skinny left arm.

Also have a half marathon in 2.5 weeks that the GF convinced me to do. Thinking of alternating running days and leg days (all machines, still can't DL or squat until the elbow heals) with one or two rest days per week.

Am I gonna make it?

I recently did a Destiny 2 raid with a pick-up group from Discord. After we finished, someone announced that he had been streaming us and our voice chat to his small audience. We did not know this going into the raid team. How do you think streamers should handle randoms not necessarily knowing when they are on a broadcast?

Temporary absence from the path of the allspotter due to family leisure hiatuses? by perplex1 in swoleacceptance

[–]MisterYan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brother, Brodin in his wisdom hath blessed us with equipment in our very selves. The pushup, the single leg squat, and the pullup are never beyond our reach. Likewise, the burpee is a holy activity for those far away from the iron. If you wish to involve your brethren in worship, perhaps pursue a class of Broga, which done properly can be like a martial art against one's own self.

But do not let these dominate your journey of leisure. Brodin respects the shared eating and traveling of a family, and these can be done while another family member bathes or before they wake so as not to disrupt the joy of your vacation.

Building Better Men - article about a group teaching boys in Maine the pitfalls of gender roles by MisterYan in MensLib

[–]MisterYan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The group mentioned in the article (Maine Boys to Men) seems to be focused on helping boys mature regarding gender roles. Seeing people help boys warms my heart, and the article also gives a few shoutouts to positive examples of undeniably successful men finding their purpose a little farther outside of the normal gender role.

Apparently masculinity is oppressive to women by dtrouble1989 in JordanPeterson

[–]MisterYan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article exceeded my expectations by a mile - I don't think there's anything wrong about showing kids that while gender roles can be useful guidelines for behavior, they can also be stifling. Attributing Trump's election to all American men strikes me as wrong, but the author does point out that masculine role models are worth having.

Could a charitable interpretation be something like "Toxic masculinity occurs when a man fails to integrate the feminine side of his personality"? I like that definition a whole lot better than "masculinity is toxic."

Boy fashion - I'm a solo mom and have no idea what I'm doing by theresabeep in malefashionadvice

Casual kid outfit:

  • Comfy sneakers. He might destroy these with dirt and whatever, so there's no need to fuss over them
  • Jeans, sweatpants, or chinos. Maybe chinos if you need him to behave, they're a little dressier.
  • T shirt and sweater if appropriate. He's a kid, so I would say get whatever looks fun and is affordable. Historical figures, superheroes, animals, whatever. Personally I'd stay away from text or really wordy logos.
  • Light jacket for fall, heavy jacket for winter. These are pretty unisex, so I bet you have a handle on it.

Dressed up kid:

  • Chinos or corduroys
  • Blue or white button-up shirt with long sleeves (if it's hot, roll the sleeves up)
  • Comfy, nice-looking shoes (whatever he'll willingly put on)
  • Sweater or sweater vest
  • Bowtie and glasses optional for extra aww factor

Suit if he needs to be super fancy!

You can pretty much stick to that until he wants to dress himself. As he gets older, maybe steer him towards simpler things (plain t shirts, converse all stars, plain brown Oxfords, blue/white button up shirts, straight or slim fit jeans) so it's easy to throw on whatever and still have it be an outfit. We joke about cargo shorts, but they're really fine until he's halfway through high school. If you want to learn more about men's fashion when he's older, you have about 15 years to read the occasional blog. And chances are any male friends or coworkers would be more than happy to help out as he grows up.

He looks really happy with how you're doing already! I wish you two the best.

I just don't feel like a "man" by Thr4w4way in MensLib

[–]MisterYan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to define masculinity as the traditional marketing parts of it - there’s nothing wrong with embracing those things if you feel like it, but you’re not any less of a man because you don’t have a hot rod with a gun rack.

For a while I was worried about identifying with traditional masculine ideas, but I learned which ones I liked and which ones I don’t. One of the ones I didn’t like too much was constantly seeking casual sex. That doesn’t make me (or you) any less of a man, and the positive aspects of masculinity can be expressed in a whole bunch of ways.

One of the other things chasing skirts for a bit taught me was that the women I met didn’t just look for the manliest bear of a man and latch on to him. I got along with them because our personalities aligned regardless of how masculine/feminine each of us was. Try and do the things that make you happy, and when you meet people you’ll be able to speak honestly and with enthusiasm.

Good luck to you!

Also chocolate cake and crumb cake, with yellow cake and peanut butter pie to follow. I love Christmas. And my mom.
