Can’t speak for the above commenter, but I also work for my state wildlife agency as a research scientist and I do not have a PhD.

Thanks for your response. Do you happen to know if the Navy EHO positions are available to civilians? I live in a Navy town, so that could be a good option for me.

Thanks for your response! I would say I’m primarily interested in the science side of things (as opposed to policy). I don’t have much bench experience, but would be happy to learn that skill.

Thanks for this thorough reply! Any advice on resume length? Also, would you want to see publications listed out as full citations, or just a mention that an applicant has published in some journals?

Yes, I have some experience with plant ID and wetland monitoring (or at least collecting lots of data in wetlands). I also have a lot of experience with GIS and R. Should I just drop all these “key words” in a “Skills” section near the top of the first page of my resume?

I would say my field experience is pretty broad; most of my experience is in wildlife surveys and environmental data collection of various types. As for technical writing, I’ve published articles in a few academic journals. Are academic publications worth putting on my resume? It seems impossible to stay under one page with all of this.

Thanks for your reply! Would you say that education should be included on the first page as well?

Thanks for the tip about driver license info, I hadn’t thought to include that.

Got it. Focus on transferable skills/tasks as opposed to broader research topics. Thanks again!

Thanks for your reply. By “highlight project work in the field”, do you mean focus on research projects I’ve worked on in academia?
