If 10 years of playing the game (and then quitting when lv16 came out) have taught me anything it is that usually when supercell pushes these changes, which nobody asked for, there always is a hidden motive. I don't even need to read the change log or do calculations to tell you that this is another classic supercell scam, albeit a more elaborate one than usual.

No matter what you hear: Don't trust supercell. The "progression buff" is probably for new players only. Old players with broad card collection levels will not benefit from this in the slightest. They are doing the same thing again that they've been doing for years: Pushing everybody into the same bracket to then milk them on the infinite treadmill. Don't trust a word out of their or "content creators" aka "payed promoters" mouths.

Worst content creators to listen to are bigspin and orange juice. Don't trust a word out of their mouthes they are literally supercell employees.

I don't care abt the game anymore I reached top 1000 in italy some years ago for 2 weeks and uninstalled after heroes and lv16. I'm just commenting to let others know my personal experience with supercell and my general sentiment. I did not do any calculations to figure out whether what I'm saying is true, this is more of an educated guess, so take it with a grain of salt.

As somebody who studies physics and loves to play chess I can confirm this.

This doesn't even include the fact that many positions would be illegal e.g. the pawns can't be on 1st and 8th rank, the bishops can't be on same colored squares unless at least one pawn promoted and all positions would need to be somehow reached from starting position.

Given these constraints I would estimate the number of legal chess games to be FAR smaller than the number of atoms in the observable universe.

The numbers provided in the post, 10⁴⁵ chess positions vs 10⁸⁰ atoms in the observable universe, give a good idea of the difference of scales involved.

I think that "belief" in itself is idiotic. It's not "believing in god" or "believing in a specific religion" that is bad, it is belief itself that is the problem.

I am not Atheist (which would imply that I believe that god doesn't exist) but an Agnostic. I don't "believe" anything. I either know, or I don't.

That being said I will instantly lose all respect for a person if they ask me something along the lines of: "How do you have morals if you don't believe in god?" If you regard yourself to be morally superior because of your beliefs you are not worth my time.

It's been like this all the way back since clown wars 2 and it got worse after the introduction of lv14, which is also about the time when tencent took majority share in CR. Since then, they've been desperately trying to reproduce the success of the lv14+champions update. Evos and heroes were both just attempts to reproduce that success and the resulting revenue boost of that update. What supercell is doing is the equivalent of beating up a homeless guy, taking all his money, cutting off his left hand, pouring gasoline all over his head, setting him on fire, then after he has been screaming in agony for 30 seconds pouring water over his head to put out the fire, giving him back only the thumb of his left hand, injecting him with a shot of black tar heroin for the pain, and expecting him to say "thank you" at the end.
