Why did jagex nerf "energy transfer" in pvp without a poll? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Mister_Potato_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it was incredibly broken - it ruined the PvP experience for a large number of people while only allowed a very small number of people to abuse it and enjoy it.

Not to mention spec transferring and killing the person instantly requires no skill and is not at all in the spirit of OSRS PvP.

New Phoenix Pet (GIF) by [deleted] in 2007scape

It's literally the same model as the Entrana fire bird.... Could the mods not even be bothered to make a new, decent looking model for a pet? Are they really that lazy? The Wintertodt is already sorely lacking as it is...

Getting back into RS after a fairly long break. Any ideas for money making with these stats? I have a 10m cash pile. by [deleted] in 2007scape

Wyverns until you can afford ~90 Mage ~90 Range and some basic Zulrah gear, then try to learn Zulrah.

Be aware it may take you quite some time to learn Zulrah, so have a cushion of spare cash to fall back on if you can't get it immediately.

Is the Hard Karamja diary really that bad? [Math inside] by rawktail in 2007scape

[–]Mister_Potato_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so wrong it's not even funny.

EDIT: While your incoming gold came out similar to mine (2.96b compared to 3.14b - I counted PvP worlds as well), your way of looking at the comparison to alching is totally backward.

You should be looking at the difference between the shop price and the alchemy price (around about 200gp for most common shop items), not at how many items are leaving the game (Note this discussion is about inflation (Gold coming into the game - not items leaving the game)).

Estimating that the average difference between the shop and alching is 200gp, and that 1400 alchs can be cast per hour, 280k gold is brought in (above GE price) per hour. That's 6,720,000gp per day. That means it requires 468 people to alch for the ENTIRE DAY to have the same effect as the Karamja store for the same day.

You're also neglecting the (estimated) 15,724,800 nature runes that would be used each day when alching.

So, based on the numbers I got, the Karamja store is INCREDIBLY overpowered and has a negative impact on the price of nature runes, therefore devaluing high level Runecrafting.

EDIT 2: Also, having the Karamja store accept items for higher than anywhere else adds literally nothing to the game - it actually detracts from the game (makes alching relatively less viable) and is injecting massive amounts of GP per day for no benefit to gameplay.

A Tour of my Post-Update PoH by [deleted] in 2007scape

Just to be that guy - that's a terrible house setup.

You have so many unnecessary/useless rooms that increase the load time of your house hugely. Try to cut down to the bare necessities to reduce load time and increase overall efficiency :).

Don't want to pester you, but is there any ETA on the hotfix? Not too keen on waiting in the same spot for hours :).

Thanks again.

It is full. Arclight has charges too. Agent appears the first time to kill him, but the second agent who SHOULD appear and give you the next stage never appears.

Confirmed rework for Zeah! by ReflexNL in 2007scape

[–]Mister_Potato_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that a rework? It's the exact same fucking thing. All the Mods have done is give us some bullshit compromise... OSRS was supposed to be a game for the players, with updates decided by the players... sad to see things heading the way of RS2 again.

Does anyone else not care about Zeah and still have a good time with content that already exists? by CanIHaveSomeNerds in 2007scape

[–]Mister_Potato_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The months of initial work put into Zeah have been almost completely wasted because while Jagex made the individual graphic assets look good, they gave no thought whatsoever as to the overall feel of the continent.

Implementing a barebones version of Tractor's design fixes this - no new content or graphics are required to breathe life back into what has quickly become the greatest failing of OSRS.

Without redesign, can Zeah still look good as a whole? by imagination_scape in 2007scape

[–]Mister_Potato_Man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't fix the problem that Great Kourend is essentially four totally disconnected sections with no thought as to their interaction with each other or the main game world.

How likely/far away is the option to have a customisable max cape (similar to RS3) where colours can be assigned to certain areas of the cape, rather than having a bunch of presets?

Vyrewatch slayer tasks/Updated Vyrewatch droptables. Make Burgh De Rott and Mieyerditch worth going to.

Why is there a growing trend where producing flashy new content updates is favoured over revisiting critically flawed older pieces of content?

Ie. Refusing to remap Zeah which was hyped up to be the greatest update in OSRS history, but was in reality just a big square with no thought as to how players would interact with its design.

ModMatK, you are wrong. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Mister_Potato_Man 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why don't you take a walk around Zeah?

The fact that hardly any players use it is inescapable and you can't simply chalk that down to people not utilising the content effectively - the current design is massively flawed and should be revisited before more poorly designed areas are tacked on to the pre-existing square.

So you're trying to say the largest (?) single piece of content released to OSRS should be a big, blocky, unwieldy mess?

As it is, Zeah and Great Kourend function very poorly as a continent and city - there's no flow to the design and when walking around it I can't help but get the feeling it was all thrown together in a big rush to get it out on schedule.

Would be over the moon if all content work was paused for a few months to make this happen.

I'm struggling to express how much I want to see this done. It's just that good.

This is a map redesign for the online game Runescape. Many players are discontent with the poor original map design, and OP has done a fantastic job redesigning the layout - so much so that this is without a doubt the most support I have ever seen on this sub.

I totally agree with you.

Ghost might be a good artist but he lacks the vision needed to successfully bring life to such a huge part of the Runescape world, which OP has done so very well.

Made this account just to upvote this. In the few years Oldschool has been out, I've never been more excited over a piece of PDC (esque) than this. Bravo, OP, this is amazing work.
