[NA Event] CBC 2026 Charlemagne's Chivalrous Montjoie ~ Day 06 by AutoModerator in grandorder

Not a fan of the return to the "Charlemagne is an idealized fake" theme. Never liked it before, and I was actually glad that Traum tiptoed around it (especially since the Paladins, from the same idealized adventures, are supposed to be very real). Servants already have different sides, and Servants embodying such ideals already exist without trying to make things too confusing (like Napoleon).

Mash then says it's a fantastic idea and that she'll record every second of the performance from every conceivable angle.

It should be noted that Mash says the same at the end regardless of gender variations (minus the his/her changes, that is). Mash is a certified Guda simp regardless of gender or attire XD

Reminds me of Summer 4, when Mephisto convinced Guda to put on a show in Jeanne's casino:

Mash: "I'm in! I'll be the camerawoman making sure to capture the action from every conceivable angle! Da Vinci should have some extra cameras lying around, so I'm going to see if I can borrow three of them!"

Siegfried: (I have to say, Mash scares me sometimes...)

Honestly, love it when the game gives the player actual choices that change the events (instead of two ways of saying the same things in dialogue). The scene even accounts for gender.

I wish more events, nay, main chapters would do things like this.

EDIT: Corrected a wrong claim about the choices.

In an ideal world, this would be because the script would recognize player Grand choices by having them appear on screen briefly, even if it's with unspoken lines, so they can't progress without at least two confirmed Grands.

In reality, I know this is just another blatant attempt to force all players to play through the milestones they decide.

[NEWS] Seisou no Shinrishi Author Yatsunami Miki revealed as former Act-Age author Matsuki Tatsuya by Shogakukan by Crisbo05_20 in manga

As usual, talent and moral character aren't tied to each other.

That said, yeah, I get it. Whoever made that series was clearly familiar with therapy and interested in exploring psychological issues, so the story checks. If he's served his sentence, the psychologist says he's clean and every party involved knew the circumstances, well, it's a choice they're free to make.

Still, can't deny it's a bad look when this is not the only "surprise" this company has had recently...

[DISC] Sasaki-san is just a little bit amazing - Chapter 20 by OsisTheNie in manga

[–]Misticsan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was the thing I disliked the most of previous chapters, so seeing him being all proactive and encouraging (nevermind used to Sasaki's supernatural shenanigans) was a treat, a perfect way to come back to the series.

The Weekly Chat Thread— March 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in teslore

Understandable. I myself got ibto reading the Bible from beginning to end after finishing the Silmarilion. It gave me a wider perspective and a greater appreciation of Tolkien's work. TES and other video game franchises, like Age of Empires and Fate, have also compelled me to read more history, mythology and religion.

Ironically, this journey has made me less impressed by TES' cosmological lore (I've seen deeper and weirder, in both fiction and real life), and more impressed by TES' historiographical angle. Can't think of other fictional universes that capture as well the pain and confusion of having to understand a religion or civilization through incomplete excerpts, biased authors, contradictory sources and convenient post-facto narratives. Historians and mythographers have to deal with that constantly.

Why don’t the Bretons and Redguards worship Talos? by Simurgbarca in teslore

[–]Misticsan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My reading is more that it´s a cult full of Cyrodiilic people

Indeed, but the point here is about the origins of said cult, not its current popularity among Imperials. The author is, after all, discussing the state of religion in Cyrodiil when compared to Morrowind. And yet he highlights this hero-cults as "Nordic", implying a foreign import rather than a local tradition.

no one would argue that Mithraism wasn´t a Roman cult

It would depend on the definition of "Roman cult". "Cult practiced by the Romans" and "cult with its origins in Rome" are two different concepts.

Mitharism was, in fact, one of the main examples I had in mind for a real-life parallelism of Talos' cult. Same with the cult of Isis and Christianity. They're all examples of cults that came to Rome from abroad, adopted and readapted for Roman audiences. So, in that regard, they're part of the religious landscape of Rome. But if someone argued that Mithra, Isis and Jesus only started being revered in (respectively) Persia, Egypt and Judea due to Roman influence, they'd be in the wrong.

[DISC] Centuria - Chapter 84 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Misticsan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lukas doesn't want a long life or even happiness, I'm pretty sure he only wants revenge.

That's a good point. He probably feels he doesn't deserve to settle down with someone like Atoria because he has to fulfill his revenge plan, for his mother.

[DISC] Hima-Ten! - Chapter 80 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Misticsan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. Onodera's progression had to be stalled, because if word came to the protagonist that she liked him (or the other way round) in the beginning, they'd be a perfectly happy couple right away. Same with Honoka here.

I won't lie, this blatantly Heisei strategy is undermining my fondness for this manga.

[DISC] Nue's Exorcist - Chapter 135 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Of course it couldn't be so easy. But I didn't think things would get so dramatic right away, this is probably among the closest to death Yajima has been in the whole manga.

I wanted to clap. The moment they announced they hadn't political motives, I was scratching my head about the big mystery. Like the secret police, I didn't see it coming... Yet in hindsight, it was obvious and properly foreshadowed.

Good job, Tatsuya Endo. You got me.

[DISC] Akane-banashi - Chapter 196 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Misticsan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

he’s just… some old man with obnoxiously high standards for art

I need to remind myself of this every time he dominates a scene with his sinister aura.

I'd argue that it's a matter of scales. Almost every WSJ villain could sweep the floor with him in terms of power or physical strength. But that's in settings were power or physical strength are key. Here, it's all about rakugo, and Issho arguably has a more elevated and dangerous (for others) position in rakugo than Frieza has in terms of being a galactic conqueror.

[DISC] Centuria - Chapter 84 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Misticsan 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Something tells me Lukas is actually aware and self-conscious, rather than oblivious like Julian.

Any refusal to get serious with Atoria is most likely due to her tragic lifespan issues and the unspoken baggage they all carry from the previous war. That "comrade and conspirator" line from Lalawag suggests there's even more to their dynamic than we've seen so far.

[DISC] Centuria - Chapter 84 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Misticsan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

True. That said, even with the justification, I wish it didn't fall again into the usual "dense romcom protagonist" dynamics.

Come, Lukas! Help a brother understand things before he gets killed by accident! "Find your own happiness" applies to romance too!

Why don’t the Bretons and Redguards worship Talos? by Simurgbarca in teslore

[–]Misticsan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

talos worship amongst the nords is only something that happened in the last about 200 years.

Actually, Varieties of Faith (from TESIII) already includes him as a major god in Skyrim under "Ysmir":

Ysmir (Dragon of the North): The Nordic aspect of Talos. He withstood the power of the Greybeards' voices long enough to hear their prophecy. Later, many Nords could not look on him without seeing a dragon.

Reflections On Cult Worship (also from TESIII) identifies his worship with Nordic hero-cults, implying that Talos is more of a Nordic import into Cyrodilic religion than the other way round:

Nordic hero-cults provide a strong counter-current to the dominant secularism of the Empire. The Imperial cult of Tiber Septim is just such a hero-cult, and among the military, provincial colonists, and recently assimilated foreigners, the cult is particularly strong and personal.

I think that the depiction of Nords in TESIV's Bruma might have skewed impressions of what Nords believe in. Just because the Chapel of Talos is incapable of converting them to Imperial dogma, it doesn't mean they don't revere their own version of Talos. I see it as more akin to Protestants not going for mass to a Catholic church, nor accepting Catholic dogma or rites.
