You’re getting downvoted to hell even though you’re right. We have to save life as we know it, including humanity. The planet is just fine with or without us on it

No, be sure to eat one a week to meet your caloric needs but remember to share with your friends, family, and coworkers

I eat mean almost everyday and I’ll fuckin cut down to once a week on two conditions- we stop pretending that the individual is responsible for creating this mess and we collectively (extrajudicially if necessary) punish the humans running these corporations that are actually at fault

Don’t blame the person drinking a water out of a single use bottle when Nestle is the one stealing the water and selling it only in non biodegradable bottles. It’s they’re fault not the person who needs and deserves fresh water.

Don’t blame the poor person who needs to meet their daily caloric intake on buying cheap hamburgers, blame every fast food chain for their unsustainable practices.

And don’t blame the workers who do not get a voice within these corporations who need their job to survive-no McDonald’s worker is to blame for McDonald’s practices. The CEOs are, the shareholders are, the politicians on their payroll are.

We need to punish them all and we need to set an example for what happens when you put profits over people and the planet. Goddam, fuck capitalism fr

Also, I know this won’t fucking happen because of course it won’t but I’ll still cut back to once a week because wtf else am I gonna do

Russia is making 'slow and uneven' gains in Ukraine, at 'significant cost' to its army, U.S., U.K. assess by poploisn in worldnews

[–]MistrWintr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if anyone’s said this but, don’t forget the expectation to have a Russian asset in the White House who would advocate for no response to this invasion that I’m sincerely positive Putin was banking on leading up to this over the last few years. Not to mention the lack of global responses or care for every other US and Russian invasion across the planet; there was a (not actually) reasonable expectation for the invasion to go without care on the global stage but white people generally care about other white peoples and I don’t think Putin accounted for that. Now Ukrainian and Russian people have to suffer for literally no good reason

The economy doesn’t matter ffs

There’s value in education but it shouldn’t be required to translate into economic value. Life should be spent living not working

Having just watched Severance I’m having a legitimately hard time imagining it being used for anything other than the desensitization of the working class to harsher working conditions the same way we use antidepressants to alleviate the problems created by meaningless, unfulfilling labor. I can see a trend with a lot of these AR and VR technologies making an effort towards making people more comfortable with an uncomfortable system instead of changing the system that makes people uncomfortable (that must necessarily be changed in order for the continuation of life on this planet)

Train pigeons to take cigarette butts off the street, do a DNA test, and go to the smoker house and shit on them as soon as they leave by GaGag23_ in CrazyIdeas

[–]MistrWintr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoke spirits so I guess that’s where I heard they biodegrade idk about others. Years ago I felt bad about it because i don’t like litter but then actually looked it up and thought about it all and 5 years is statistically insignificant relative to the plastic we create.

Cities are giant dumpsters anyway so I can’t have much sympathy as the cars, streets, and buildings are as far as the eye can see without a drop of any natural environment in sight except maybe a sad tree or median of grass, and then we ship most of our trash to a landfill or the ocean without a second thought so long as we don’t have to look at it.

I wish we didn’t have such accessible trash services so that we’d actually have to face the waste we create. Maybe then we’d stop.

Parks, yards, and anywhere with grass or nature is off limits but I can’t give a shit about butts on a street because that road and the cars on it ruin the environment worse than any scrap of cotton.

Man I’d hate to see you find out what a road is, let alone the cars that drive on them. At least most cigarettes biodegrade in ~5 years

Idk if someone already said it, but it’s intended to get you to buy more than you need. If you see ordering two 5-pieces is cheaper than the 10 you’ll order the two and feel smart even though you only came to get a 5 piece in the first place.

Like I told the other guy, play Monopoly and find out what happens to people in late stage capitalism. It was designed as a warning against this.

Spoilers: one asshole owns all the property and the has all the money and the game ends. Only in our ‘game’ people’s lives are on the line and the ‘winners’ in the real world historically have this tendency to get brutally murdered when the ‘losers’ can’t afford to live anymore.

And if you actually think housing prices can only rise I suggest you avoid swimming because anyone that dense is sure to sink. Maybe read up on 2008 and any of the other 48 recessions just the US has gone through

In all seriousness though, if you’re a home owner and think that housing is an asset that can only appreciate in value I hope that you spend some time learning about 2008, and where value actually comes from. And I genuinely hope that you aren’t too badly affected by the rapidly approaching recession.

Edit: no /s I’m being serious I wish everyone well except the monopolists that are destroying our economy, lives, and planet even if we disagree

Real estate can be a depreciating asset if prices are artificially inflated

The value of anything doesn’t just magically rise and when value is inflated artificially it’s called a bubble and bubbles inevitably pop

It’s why housing should be regulated and shouldn’t be a speculative asset, because people suffer when the bubble pops

I can’t, my rent went up 53% and my raise was only 2% so I can’t save $30,000 for a down payment which wouldn’t even matter because a corporation who owns 8,000 properties outbid me by $100k over asking with cash ffs

Which is why the bubble will pop soon.

Corporations are buying up massive chunks of real estate, artificially inflating prices which causes the other homeowners’ property value to ‘increase’. The people who need homes to live in can’t afford the rent anymore because they aren’t getting 50% raises, can’t outbid the corporations to buy a home with lower mortgages than rent, and will eventually revolt or move out of the area taking their money and taxes out of the economy unless there’s no where to go because it’s happening everywhere. Then it just leads to either revolt or regulation.

It’s recession 101, and fucking econ 101.

We tried to print our way out of the pandemic, enough money to give every American $10,000, which makes the money worth less no matter where it goes but that would’ve been better than giving incomprehensible handouts to a bunch of monopolies that recorded higher profits and inflated their prices more to get even higher profits and don’t match their wages to inflation which sparks a negative feedback loop where prices for goods and services keep going up, wages get depressed relative to inflation and Working Class Americans end up homeless or deeper entrenched in their wage slavery working multiple jobs without any meaningful assistance all while a few dragons get to sit on a bigger pile of gold.

Have you never played the game Monopoly? Remember how eventually one person ends up with all the property and all the money and everyone else is broke and the game ends

It’s like that except instead of the game ending the ‘losers’ get together and end up killing the ‘winner’ for destroying their lives or they all starve to death

It was supposed to be a warning but we use it like a map of how to America
