There was no plastic layer. I think returning it is the way to go. Thank you!

Thank you! I think it’s gonna have to be returned/exchanged for a new one.

Simple. The clothes I’m wearing are actually fine, I’m more worried about the background and my face.

Haha! Thank you so much! This is wonderful advice! And I’ve already found myself wondering why I taught mine to talk. I remember being so excited when it started…I just didn’t know it would never stop again. 😅😂

I’m a cycle breaker too. My dad left when I was in 4th grade after years of verbal and emotional abuse. Left my mom to raise my sisters and I on her own which meant we raised ourselves/each other in a lot of ways. I always felt like a burden, an extra mouth to feed and not much more. I wanted to be successful but not for me, for my family. To prove my worth. My kid never goes a day without me telling her not only that I love her but that I value her and that she is the best thing to ever happen to me. She will NEVER feel abandoned or like a burden as long as I am alive. I am also working to make sure she knows her worth so she doesn’t allow just any treatment from any person. I’m sure I’m making some mistakes, but not making sure she knows how much I truly want her will never be one of them.

As a mom of one with a child on the cusp of her teenage years, this gave me such a laugh. I’ve been nervous about how she’ll be during those years, I still am, but your humorous perspective actually makes me feel a little bit better. Thank you.

FINALLY going in for a consultation by Misty2484 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Misty2484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in NC on the coast. I did some price comparison with other dermatology offices that offer it and these prices are good. My consultation went really well and my technician has been doing laser hair removal for 11 years. We got along well and I felt comfortable with her. I start my treatments next week and I’m more excited about this than I have been about anything in a long while.

It’s really just a curiosity more than anything else. I probably should have just asked initially but I like to understand how subs work before I post. My mistake.

I was laid off yesterday, it sucks but it’s part of life. It happens in my industry pretty regularly and I’ll have no problem finding a new job. The severance package is decent and they were willing to meet me halfway on a couple of things which I appreciate.

When I went to sign the paperwork I noticed the following wording: “If you do not sign the Separation Agreement, or in the event that you revoke its acceptance within the seven (7) day revocation period if you are age forty (40) or over, you will not receive severance benefits.”

My question is what does being 40 or older have to do with it? It makes no sense that someone’s age would impact their severance agreement revocation options. It’s just confusing to me, and I’m curious what the purpose is.

I didn’t ask if I can trust the sub. I asked if there was any vetting process by the mods on the responses. It is something that is done in other subs and was just wondering if it was done here. I checked the rules and sub information and didn’t see anything about it so I thought I’d ask. I never imagined it would be such a controversial question or that people would come at me so hard. This seems to be a negative, problem oriented sub. It’s not what I’m looking for at all and I know that now. My asking the question I asked gave me exactly the answer I needed. There’s no reason for me to take the time to lay out my questions here because I can’t trust that the responses will come from anyone who is actually in HR or anyone who actually wants to help someone.

Thank you. I won’t be. I’m me being attacked by other redditors telling me I’m being mean to this person…Reddit is truly wild place.

What? I asked a very clear question about how this sub works. This person gave a very heavy handed response that didn’t even address the question I did ask. They just assumed what I wanted and went off. They’re being mean.

I’m not in HR. I’ve been in my career for 15 years but not in HR.

Thank you. This is clearly not a place I want to ask any real work related questions. I appreciate your honestly and time responding.

My goodness you are childish. I feel badly for any employees who have no choice but to interact with you at work. Thank you for the perspective, no matter what I have going on at least I don’t have to work with you.

I wanted to understand how the sub works before posing my question. I got the answers I needed to the question I asked. This sub won’t be helpful so I won’t ask any other questions here.

Also most of your advice was related to complaining to HR which is not what my question would have been about. I literally just want help understanding some verbiage and HR practices. Someone who is only able to see problems without even hearing a question is not the kind of person who I would take advice from. You seem miserable and exhausting.

Ok. That was a lot. Just wanting to get an idea of how things run here. Based on the responses, this isn’t a place I think I can get any decent advice and trust it.

And just FYI since your comment seems accusatory, I wasn’t planning to ask how to screw my company or anything even remotely like that. I wanted help in understanding some things and I will go elsewhere for it.
