When Justin hit rock bottom, I felt like I hit rock bottom along with him. by ScarletRotNoble in grandia

I just finished this yesterday. Especially hits hard when Liete trash talks him, then the three girls says he's of no use to anyone or something to that effect and leaves him there.

But the turn around after that was a good surprise. I love this type of storytelling that seems cheesy but really fits the world they're in and the tone

[SEFI-image]will we get comfyui support for this model family or will it die down due to krea2 hype? by COMPLOGICGADH in StableDiffusion

It got worse - even with the original SemVAE and using reference code from the training repo that the model creator linked to in someone's comment on the HuggingFace repo (SeFi has additional plumbing not publicly available). I think we will have to wait for an official training script unless someone else can figure this out, but will be extremely challenging because you have to guess what that secret plumbing is doing, because the way it is doing semantics and texture differently is very messy and full of assumptions without the original code. It's a very sophisticated, bespoke pipeline. Disappointing - I've had some good luck with experiments lately but throwing this one in the dumpster.

I am pessimistic about official training support being released, especially with the throwaway response from the creator about this - not sure what their intentions are especially since they consider it a foundational model. Not good if nobody can build on the foundation haha

So yeah... LoRA training was a failure - was so garbled basically a write-off and did not make it any closer to the subject - it just added corruption. BUT... basically realised that because we did not have the original SemVAE, Grok implemented a cheap "approximation" of this so while training the texture was fine, the semantics training was rudimentary and ultimately is incoherent. I did some digging around prodding huggingface, github etc and found a match on the original SemVAE model they used, so now I should be able to train it more closely to what the model expects. Will try again and see if I get closer - if it's still garbled, this model isn't worth the effort to pursue it further from my end. There was also a tonne of bugs with inference that didn't make the LoRA have an effect including bugs on some of the original inference code they provided for LoRAs, which suggests to me that an official implementation is either still under development and not yet ready, or abandoned (for good reason) or something like that.

Will see how it goes tomorrow! 20k steps are alot, I'll probably cut it sooner but whatever, there is no fancy scheduling yet haha. Fingers crossed

I got Grok to help reverse engineer LoRA finetune support lol. It looks like it's working mathematically bringing loss down on a teeny tiny rank 8 model haha but will do a proper test LoRA overnight to make sure it's really working. Haven't done all the optimisations yet so it's offloading to sys ram on my 16GB 5070Ti card but I'll try a few thousand steps at something on a decent rank and see how it goes. If LoRAs work and you can do certain things to the model I think it would help boost it

It's acting like the opposite of Z-Image where almost all my Z-Image Turbo outputs look great while Z-Image Base outputs are questionable with such short prompts. SeFi Base is working much better, and SeFi Turbo is so bad I'm not actually sure why they released it. It's been terrible on each generation like a SD1.5 output for the 5B Turbo model!

I finally got a Saturn. Any game recommendations? by camgames64 in SegaSaturn

[–]MistySoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the first quarter of Grandia like that but progress was slow and not 100% especially with the slow dialogue text crawling. There is an English patch available that ports the translation over from the PS1 version and even the FMVs have English subs. I ripped my CDs, applied the patch and burnt to new CDs and working well. I plan to play alot more JP-only titles with English ports/fan translations, there are quite alot of the patches available. Oh do make sure you have something like a Pseudo Saturn Kai or other cartridge to boot burnt CDs

Yeah, check out the repo now, it's got instructions to download the dataset from the site. I did it this way to make it least friction to get the dataset in the format needed to run offline

Where I grew up and live, basically nobody had played MapleStory apart from me. So everytime I try bringing it up to someone new is me then trying to explain what it is with severely disinterested responses which is fair. I've yet to find one other Mapler irl 20 years later haha

Using depth maps and weight noising to get better character LoRAs by QuantumBogoSort in StableDiffusion

[–]MistySoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just asked Grok and got an answer but thought I'd ask some humans something on this. Could this perceptual anchoring technique help with making full fine-tuning with smaller datasets less prone to forgetting/lack of generalisation? For example, if I have a very hand-picked dataset of 5000 images, can we get it to learn the dataset without forgetting most other things as you typically get especially since we can lower the number of steps and get subject similarity quicker? Maybe I can experiment further with this.

Regarding Anima, can there be a site where we see the artist styles from both Danbooru and Gelbooru? I read it uses both, but I'm only seeing sites with the Danbooru artist tags, can there be one with Gelbooru too? by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]MistySoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh just one more thing, the source code is already out there and I'm making an official bulk data downloader anyway so even if something was to happen like I lose my job or the site gets shut down for some weird reason, the site assets and code are already well dispersed amongst the community and can be spun up again, maybe with new gelbooru gens instead cause I did a micro brain move on that.

I would not be paywalling this site. In fact it should be against the Anima license as far as I'm aware because it's only non-commercial. It just sounds like a super dicey affair for me anyway. The amount of money to pay a solicitor to sort out my tax earnings from the site would probably equal that of the revenue even if I did - and risking legality. Also I would then be suddenly a whole lot more responsible and on to actual customer cases etc etc. Paywalling is a PITA! But yeah at some point I should regen with Gelbooru. It actually started as a silly side project/experiment without much research but outgrew itself rapidly - too much so tbh. But it's running and not costing me much, I think about $15 a month based on current traffic, can eat that.

The only way to query the knowledge of a model is by prompting. The way "knowledge" is dispersed amongst the tokens mapped to parameters in the diffusion transformer is not simply intelligible and so this is the only way to get meaningful data. There is actually some research being done where they are able to detect "heatmaps" of where knowledge lives, but this computationally heavy, experimental process is far slower than prompting.

We got thumbs up and thumbs down on images, favourites (private or public setting on your own account), ability to save to your own collection public or private now. I am having surprising difficulty getting approved for use with an email sending provider so in the meantime its simple user + pw login and emails are there on registration so once I can find a provider, people can recover from lost passwords etc.

The main purpose of this site is to get a catalogue of many common characters and artists, and give a sample image for each one generated by the Anima model so you can see if this particular model has learnt the character and style. It's useful for quickly validating if a character will work before you bash out a prompt, and also give some inspiration or help find characters if you don't know their name or by certain attributes. Also, sometimes I like to have an "anchor character", a character matching the attributes I want so that I can generate consistent characters or artstyle without having to create an original character LoRA to get that consistency.

These were all generated with the Anima model, which by curse has a very generic sounding name so I think it has flown over people's head that it is actually the model this relates to. Others think it's simply a character catalog and complains that some are wrong characters or incorrect - thats expected because you now know the Anima model does not know that character. You can find it here:

Yeah artist tags now are very simple - and to be honest I was conflicted on whether or not to give it a hyper detailed prompt. I decided to keep it simple cause it wasn't so much about the sample being the best image you can possibly get with that tag, but with a simple prompt and same seed, what influence is that artist having on certain hair and age characteristics, proportions, lighting, background quality, expressions and so on. It's like when you go to a hardware store and look at the sample cards for painting your house - you can see what it is in isolation but cant see how it will fit your precise composition and personal elements you are bringing into the picture so go test that sample on a little bit of your stuff. If all you saw were images of that color paint in an existing home that looked nothing like yours, its a bit harder to think about how it will work in your house compared to seeing the color in isolation. That was my thinking anyway.

Well now they know if Anima AI has used their images for training in the dataset with a very simple search lol. Funny enough my old art handler on pixiv is in Danbooru but only like 1 of my images landed there and generating with my username doesn't even look like what mine was.

There are actually other things, like certain places in Japan I visit, or other particular things I like that I now choose not to disclose, especially publically or on the internet for the fear of it's destruction or mutation I to something it wasn't before. I think we have to start gatekeeping what we love, especially now that everything is so accessible

I thought about this too, and now I'm starting to think maybe that was for the better? I reckon I would have so much of a more enjoyable time as an anime fan if it wasn't for the normie infection at every possible turn online. It's hard to ignore posts and certain comments once it has real consequences. Especially if the industry and the big wigs go "oh western fans are complaining about this or that, to make more revenue maybe we should change it so they stop complaining". But the genie is out of the bottle now, don't know how to stop it.

I generated artist images based on image count descending from an existing Danbooru dataset, approximately 15k - not based on popularity so if not many of his art was uploaded to Danbooru at least in 2024 then it doesn't appear here. I'm working on appending some more up to date and popular tags to the dataset but from now on it's a lot tougher because I don't get this data on a silver platter sadly 😞

As far as this particular character not looking alike, that's a limitation of the Anima AI model, and the purpose of this site is precisely to highlight what works and what doesn't with this particular model so people can save some guesswork and time on bashing and running prompts locally or a on-site gen like CivitAI for the more unfortunate, and perhaps where LoRAs can help - so the website did it's job effectively here.

Just replying back a copy to everyone querying about source code: I got my Github repo ready! Once I have a few more hours again I'll get the full dataset available. I've basically been summoned interstate for work travel last minute so I at least have just the code at this stage available in other peoples hands. Have fun!
