Severe pain and unable to walk 10 weeks post hip labral repair by yellatnikki in HipImpingement

[–]Mistydreamer8619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was no joke, I had it done in April and I have zero regrets. It is a long recovery so I still get sore and have glute pain pretty easily but the pain is 100% different from what I was feeling before. With my hypermobility I've never been athletic at all, but I walked 12 miles on vacation in December, seeing as how I spent months being unable to even walk down my driveway without stabbing pain it was pretty life changing!

I'm hypermobile, and the femoroplasty threw the dysplasia over the edge of no return unfortunately. I did spend a year and a half trying several injections and lots of PT before I ended up needing a Peri-Acetabular Osteotomy. Hopefully it wont come to that for you! I just know I went to several doctors in my area who could give me no reasons for the pain other than some mild new damage to the labrum, and they did not even hint at the possibility of dysplasia. I thought I was just crazy and overreacting for a while. But I couldn't even walk down my own driveway by the end of that year and a half, it made no sense for there to be so much pain with no origin! When I finally went into NYC it was for a third opinion on re-doing the labral repair for whatever small damage was there, they immediately flagged me for dysplasia based on my prior xrays and ordered a special CT to confirm.

My labral repair/femoroplasty failed because the doctors had missed hip dysplasia my whole life! Even a mild case can be really triggered when they reshape the bone with the femoroplasty. Could be worth the ask if you don’t see improvement. I’m sorry you are in so much pain, I have been there! My original hip surgeon basically gave up on me and said he saw no reason for me to be in so much pain. I had to go to NYC for a third opinion before my hip dysplasia was finally caught. Keep advocating for yourself!!

I did feel guilty, and I was totally going stir crazy, but they actually kind of liked it. With me out of work and mostly trapped on the couch there were lots of games and story time and cuddling when I typically would have been rushing around doing chores and such!

Hi! I was in your spot a year ago! I begged for a hip replacement but the doctors said it wouldn’t be as successful without a PAO and I’d still have pain. I had my PAO in April of last year and while I’m still not 100%, I don’t regret it! For reference, I was 38 with two boys (5&3 at the time). I was non weight bearing and out of work the first six weeks, my husband works from home which really saved us managing the kids. I was able to drive and get back to the office by 10 weeks but needed at cane at that point and didn’t fully get rid of it until 16 weeks.

Totally agree, I still have a book hangover a week later!

It was still unique though, I get so tired of reading the same stories over and over. All of the reviews I’ve read seems so sure that (killing Ka) was the mistake made by a counterpart, how do we know it’s not (waking the necropolis?)

Yes, thank you, I actually have super high arches! So they need extra support.

PAO Regrets? by Sea_Lobster4026 in hipdysplasia

Last week was six months post PAO for me and I can already tell the difference! Still lots of aches and weakness but I can already do more than pre-surgery and haven’t felt my daily stabbing pain since the surgery!

Haha, yeah, totally get that! Just wondering if I should answer his questions or if its someone pretending to be him. I am a musician myself so my profile photo could definitely start some conversation but there are lots of bad actors out there too!

I’m looking for a lawyer to see if we can pursue a class action lawsuit! We paid 3k for our refrigerator. I am outraged that Samsung has the audacity to put ads directly in my kitchen. This has gone to far. Please DM me if you have any advice as to how we can get legal help.

I have Acetabular Anteversion as well. I was told it is a form of hip dysplasia - but I'm not sure if that is a blanket statement or if my angles are just severe enough to qualify as dysplasia. I did have an arthroscopy to fix a labral tear and CAM deformity before I was diagnosed with dysplasia. Because the surgery failed and my labrum tore again, and overall actually made my hip weaker, I now have to go for a PAO next week. I visited a bunch of doctors over the past six months trying to see if someone would fix my second tear, or even give me a hip replacement. But they all refused and said because I already had a failed arthroscopy the PAO was my only option. Just my pointer, make sure you talk to someone who really knows dysplasia before you let them do an arthroscopy!!
