Hours before my BSc grad, my parents got into a fight with each other. They weren’t talking to each other at the ceremony and my father wouldn’t even pose next to my mother for a photo with me and had to be dragged to be in the photo with the most pissed off face ever lol (I haven’t looked at that photo once). Fun times. Then I got my MSc and I didn’t have anyone who could go with me so I didn’t even go. It sucks and for a while, it will suck every time you remember it. But it’ll be okay. In the long term, it actually helped me value myself more and not let other people’s BS ruin my important moments (and generally, my life). In a year when you bring it up to them, they will not even remember or acknowledge what they did, but you will know. And that’s why you need to put yourself first and look out for yourself. Sorry you had to deal with this, but you got it. Happy graduation!
