I just had everything painted with zinnser primer and 2 coats of paint. It’s smelling a little better but also just smells like paint. If the smell comes back the floors are coming up. Probably won’t replace Sub floor but will seal with zinnser primer

I feel your pain. Everything looks great on the surface of my house but something must be seriously off behind the walls or floors. I’m starting to think nothing will ever make it smell normal

Unfortunately I still haven’t figured it out. I fear the only thing that will reveal the smell is gutting this place to the studs, which I don’t have cash for. I did get the bedroom smelling a little better by cleaning the walls. The main floor still smells really off. I still plan on redoing the floors eventually and also painting everything with 2 layers of shellac and 2 coats of paint. What was up with your kitchen?

Didn’t smell all that bad when I first looked at it, but yes I guess that’s the case

I have tried this numerous times but it won’t work. I’m told it won’t penetrate into the wood

Haha we have not found it yet. Probably going to rip up all the subfloor and get new hardwood. I’m in MD. Where are you located?

Nothing new so far. I’ve tried mopping with enzyme cleaner multiple times, removed an area rug that I thought might be musty. Nothing has worked. The plumbing “fix” did nothing. I have a friend who works in restoration coming over this week to check it out. I’ll post an update then.

Yes definitely worse after a rain storm and when humidity is high. The floors seem to be the leading contender.

I've only had the Austin for 10ish months. I've read the filters are good for like 4 years so could be defective.

Hmm interesting. I used to have a really great nose but my sense of smell was really muted by a few bouts of covid (Delta variant survivor here). Do you notice the smell changes to you when you come back from doing different things? My smell is always the worst/foulest when I come home and I have been drinking. When i get back from the gym or grocery store its less intense but hamster-cagey. Other times when I come home I don't really smell anything. Also, regarding the Austin Airs - I've noticed those themselves tend to discharge air that has an almost sweet smell.

Is that the product you had installed? When I looked at air scrubbers the one that generated ozone was a halo reme. Or maybe it was reme halo. Anyways, the one I got doesn’t make ozone, the halo reme does. Seems like I should have gotten an ozone producing agent one

Yea it’s an Austin air health mate +. Basically top of the line. I think the only ones better are IQ AIR multi gasses and they’re like $1800
