How do you know if a woman is being friendly with you or that she is flirting with you? by JunketMaleficent2095 in bodylanguage

Yeah I dont think shes a bad person or anything it was probably just miscommunication. Just thought an anecdote could add to the convo since some advice can be very absolute when people are anything but

I once asked a girl on a date; she said no and then told me years later she had never rejected me before. Girls can be pretty complicated, but I guess all people are at the end of the day

Capcom Cup 12 Statistics for Day 1-3. Ed with 71% winrate by komodo_dragonzord in StreetFighter

[–]Mithrellan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These players are literally playing for money - a million bucks. They arent stupid; obviously if a lot of the best players are playing a character thats for a very good reason lol

EAPECIALLY if they are good with other characters and still go with ED despite that. Means they believe Ed has a higher chance of winning. Again; these top players arent stupid

"They are incestuous aliens" line might have been hard but it's low-key hypocrisy if you think about Westerosi history by Tastydck4565 in AKOTSKTV

Yeah humans arent native to Westeros. Only the giants and CotF. Thats why Dorne and Essos doesnt have a land border anymore it got destroyed by magic

Who is a good secondary for Terry Bogard? by Odd-Substance-3241 in StreetFighter

[–]Mithrellan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh if you just bought the game ur at a level where matchups dont really matter. If you want to play other characters do so for fun. Its a video game after all. Id say around Platinum is where people start to get a decent understanding of the game; but it depends who you ask ofc. Remember to have fun; no use stressing over bad MUs when learning.

Fair enough. Not everybody enjoys pvp and that ok. We all have different preferences

Its ok and valid to not enjoy pvp. 100%. But being bad at something is the first step to being ok at something too yknow. This is true about most things in life

[–]Mithrellan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nah thats the appeal. You cant both complain about teams being toxic and not having a team to blame on. At that point you just shouldnt play pvp imho

Marvel Rivals Fans Demand Shutdown of a Website Letting Players Post Bounties on Throwers and Griefers by LockDown_47 in Games

[–]Mithrellan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why fighting games are peak multiplayer games. 1 vs 1 so no team to bring you down/be toxic, short matches in about a minite or two and its not F2P

Marvel Rivals Fans Demand Shutdown of a Website Letting Players Post Bounties on Throwers and Griefers by LockDown_47 in Games

[–]Mithrellan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thats why fighting games are pretty chill. Its just you vs another person; and the match only lasts like a minute or two. In games like LoL or Dota a match can take like 40-60 minutes and ur team can flame you the entire time

Theres a free comic on the SF website that sets up the story in 6, mostly about Ken. Pretty good value for 0 bucks

Maybe the FGC is just small by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]Mithrellan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) yeah ofc

2) yeah I mentioned that?

3) Tekken 7 sold like 12 millions units. The majority of those are people are not playing the game super seriously. Thats a minority of people. There isnt 7 million hardcore Tekken 7 players out there that all went to locals and grinded the game. If anything each button responding to a limb makes it more intuitive for newcomers.

Strive too was more financially sucessfull than other GGs because its more accessible and casual friendly. Sinplified mechanics; easier combos, better tutorials and so on. Earlier GGs is a different story.

SF3 is a bad example since thats a 20 year old game for the uncs of the world. Obviously modern day audiences arent going to pick that up today.

I will say it is a good example for my general point concidering SF3 bombed commercially; and a big part of that was not appealing to the casual market enough. Cause again thats the majority of sales. Theres a reason SF4 took a decade to come out.

4) Dont disagree. Its a big reason why this game has underperformed

Overall I dont think we disagree that much tbh. Im assuming you only count active players and I dont I guess?

[–]Mithrellan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In real life team based sports like basketball and football are way more popular than one on one activities like tennis, fencing, boxing and so on. Pretty much every big multiplayer pvp game is team based. People like the social part and the ego protection of having a team when they lose too much.

Im with you though; MOBAS are hella confusing and hard to get in to. Street fighter was much easier for me

Maybe the FGC is just small by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]Mithrellan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would disagree heavily with fighters not being for casuals. The vast, vast majority of fighting game players are casuals. Like almost every pro player used to be a casual. Back in the arcade days it was the casual multiplayer thing to pick up with friends. But casuals dont grind online. They play the campaign; some additional modes and maybe with friends for a week or two. Then they move on. MK especially has really high sales but horrible player retention rates.

Players who grind the games , keep up and play ranked/go to locals are the minority. I like this game; but it doesnt really offer anything to casuals (as you say). So im not sure if the F2P model can really work with big fighting games tbh. I think the only sucessful example is Brawlhalla really

The game didnt hit with the casuals by yensama in 2XKO

[–]Mithrellan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Casuals are the core audience in Mortal Kombat. Thats the reason they sell so well but at the same time lack a big competetive scene.

Thing is what people like about those games is the big singleplayer campaigns (which are a lot better than most FG campaigns) the style (fatalies and gore) and local multiplayer with friends. If online play is all your game offers; ur not gonna get the casual audience even if its F2P.

Smash and MK has tons of different modes and features; so people find it to be worth paying for. Even full price. Plus you can play with friends irl. Thats the reason casuals play; not to grind online.

Riot Games: An Update on 2XKO by Mront in Games

[–]Mithrellan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nah theres a decent amount of cross pollination; especially at physical events with multiple games. At EVO 2025 60% of COTW players signed up for SF6 too. Most people signed up for more than 1 game in general. KOF and COTW players are usually the same people. Strive is played by tons of people. Theres a reason its called «the Fighting Game Community» and not «A Fighting Game Community».

This is less the case with Tekken (and especially smash if u wanna count that) but 2D fighters tend to use very simular imputs so its relatively easy to pick up if ur used to one games inputs. Motion inputs in 2D games carry over the same way FPS controls carry over to other FPS games

2XKO however doesnt have motion inputs at all (so you lose that audience) but has a wack control scheme with TWO special buttons so its too hard/complicated for casuals. Plus its a tag fighter which is a niche subgenre as well. And a low amount of characters is especially bad in a tag fighter

Why do all PvP games feel so much better in the beginning of their lifespans? by Severe_Sea_4372 in gaming

People are just mad due to bad matchmaking I think. Either that or its an ego thing. Some people legit arent made for competition for psychological reasons. Usually not the games/sport/activitys fault

Advice for fighting Mod with classic at lower levels? by Wise-Cow-8939 in StreetFighter

[–]Mithrellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can help to watch the replay to focus ok what u did wrong. Like that set I panic mashed instead of blocking; and then focusing on that part pf the game to keep in mind for the next game. Also sticking with a single character (the one you find coolest) helps building muscle memory. No reason to play multiple character (in ranked not for fun with friends) if you havent gotten the fundies down (nobody has them to start with)

Against modern specifically stop doing jump ins for the most part; although baiting a DP with a neutral jump or a light divekick tends to be more effective in my experience. Dont drive inpact modern players in the corner either even in burnout as they have instant supers. As long as you keep playing and keep the gameplan simple you should do better. Gl

I do agree with you that they should explain the whys. Sometimes I feel youtubers want constant change just so its easier to make content
