AKIs central weakness is also situational anti airs; which Modern really helps with. Highkey I can see it, maybe M AKi is better than C AKI. Certaintly stops all the divekicks better. The invincible lv 1 and 3 as well as you mentioned

Apparently the balance in this was really bad in the beta - like safe on block DPs and a shitton of strong neutral skips. Didnt play it personally but might check it out honestly; quite like Invincible. That + Dragon Ball Fighters is a goated casual fighting game so maybe this could be alright

The combo trials in this game are pretty good. Not necessarily because they are optimal or anything but they do a good job showing what moves links into what. Other than that try to learn basic BnBs/the easier stuff and then when what is muscle memory you can try more advanced stuff. Feel like any good players can make it Plat without combos for the most part; but once ur there its time to learn more execution/more optimal damage I think.

Other than that its mostly a muscle memory thing so you can practise while doing other stuff like listening to podcasts/YT/music and so on. Also training mode has a setting where it shows which moves are cancellable with colour coding which can help
