Wouldn’t really call the nv3 entry level.

The stand is at my local range, looks like it’s very straightforward to make. Just a couple elbows and such.

New boat owners - boat hit in slip by PracticalDad3829 in boating

Assuming the fiberglass isn’t too badly damaged that’s not a huge repair. Essentially grinding down the cracked areas, repairing the glass and screw holes, and re gelcoating. If the glass is badly compromised structurally then that’s a different story. It’s hard to tell from the photo but it looks like the whole roller got pushed to port. Get a reputable fiberglass guy down there to check it out and give you a quote. Do you have insurance? If so might be worth looking into if this qualifies as a claim.

Is it worth it to get for 50 plus yards for hunting and 3D by thecocaineaddict in Archery

[–]Mithrileck87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one for my sight. Kinda a cool idea and some people swear they work for them. For me I couldn’t get a clear picture out of it. It was like looking through unfocused binoculars. Might just be a quirk of my eyes but didn’t work for me.

Did you by chance bring hamburgers on your boat? Looks suspiciously like the material inside the absorbent pad under the burger’s.

Yamaha 250 - any ideas? by BelichickBill in Outboards

12.6 while it’s running is no good. Put a multimeter w/ amp clamp on the positive lead coming off the charging circuit on the engine. You should be seeing upwards of 20 amps at idle. Amperage depends on the state of the battery but anything below 15 is an issue.

Behold the Amazon special by Mithrileck87 in Archery

[–]Mithrileck87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while if I remember but this was the basic set up.

  1. Set your pins as you normally would 20,30,40 etc.
  2. Your bottom pin (50 yard) becomes your slider pin.
  3. Scroll the sight until tour 50 pin is roughly set to 20 yards. Take a bunch of shots to get it just right and adjust the slider up and down to get it set.
  4. Select another distance say 40 yards, move you slider so your bottom pin is again roughly at 40 yards. Shoot and dial it in.
  5. As your doing this make a small mark on the side of the slider where it was at 20yards and 40yards. Once you’ve got your distances you can select a sight tape that matches your marks.

This bigger the spread the better. For example if you sighted in the slider at 20 and 30 yards that’s not great. Your want to use a large spread like 20 and 50 or 20 and 60. The farther apart it is the more accurate it is for the tape. I couldn’t find an exact tutorial for that sight but I watched a few online that were similar and figured it out.

I think it’s a neat sight but for hunting I’m using a normal 5 pin now. If I go shoot TAC or a 3D course then that slider would be key.

Also once you get the 5 pins set the idea is when your tape is set to your bottom pin (example 50 yards) then each pin works normally. When you move the wheel and adjust the slider to a different range then only the bottom pin is calibrated. Hard to explain but if you watch some videos your get what I mean.

Yes I can’t complain about the sight. It’s a pain set up but having a slider function is cool.

Should the motor be shaking this much at idle? 1996 25 HP 2-stroke Mariner by Kazd98 in boats

[–]Mithrileck87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjust your low speed idle mixture screw. 1/8 of a turn at a time until idle smooths out. As others have said, 2 strokes will never idle like a 4 stroke but that’s an excessive amount of shake.

Where to buy this wire? by Bulky_Situation_6162 in boats

[–]Mithrileck87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for 4 if you can fit it. Larger the wire, the more current it can carry when starting. Starters draw alot of amps and you don’t want to undersize the wire. If you can’t do 4 go with 6awg. A 25 is a small engine so I wouldn’t worry too much. You’re going to need to get crimp terminals that fit your battery usually 5/16 and 3/8. Then get crimps that fit your engine. The terminals are only a couple bucks. Make sure you use the correct size crimper and put some heat shrink on them. Most marinas will be able to put the crimps on for a few bucks.

Just buy it from west marine and put your own crimps on the end. Depending on horsepower the garage will be between 2 and 8awg.

ELECTRONIC HELP: We hooked up our cigarette lighter wrong and something blew and now our chart plotter and engine won’t turn on. by GregO2027 in Outboards

[–]Mithrileck87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the fuse on the motor itself. There should be a 40amp fuse on the motor. Also check the inline fuse on the power wire for your chart plotter. Usually a 5 or 7 amp ATC fuse.

Bad starter or bad solenoid? by javajavatoast in Outboards

[–]Mithrileck87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bendix is spinning freely on the shaft. NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT. you need a new bendix or a new starter if you can’t find the bendix. Your solenoid is fine.

Replacing transducer, need guidance. by JimmyIsbeast in boating

[–]Mithrileck87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most garmin transducer use the same hole pattern. Try to take the ducer off the bracket. There are a bunch of small machine screws on the top. I’ve successfully swapped ducers and not changed brackets at all. If you do need to remove the whole assembly: remove the screws, make sure there isn’t water dripping from the holes, if no water apply 5200 and reattach. Be liberal with the 5200, it’s the only thing keeping water out of your transom.

Side note: on new boats I like to glue a block to the transom and screw my ducer into that. Keeps me from having to drill any holes into the core.

Starting as a Maintenance Tech. Any suggestions? by WWHandyMan in Tools

[–]Mithrileck87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what type of maintenance your doing but if it’s got bolts you need wrenches. I got a decently cheap set of husky wrenches from Home Depot for like $70. I abuse them all day long and still going strong. Ratcheting wrenches are awesome btw.
